Gray, sorry for posting this on Wattpad.

"No!" Dan groaned, this argument had been going on long enough.

"Come on, it could be fun!" Phil pleaded desperately, poking his head into the lounge, where he saw Dan in his "browsing position."

"Buying an actual Christmas tree would just level you up to the next level of your houseplant addiction."

"It's called being festive!"

"How would we even get it up the stairs? Even without carrying anything, it requires as much energy as it would take to climb Mount Doom to get up here."

"But Daaaaan!" Phil had done it, he had unleashed the puppy eyes. The raven-haired giraffe of a person knew Dan wouldn't be able to resist his charm, especially since he was too lazy to put in his contacts that morning, so he was still wearing his glasses.

"No." Dan hadn't looked up from his laptop, irking Phil slightly. He walked into the room and sat on the floor in front of the couch. He poked his roommate's shin until he looked up, seeming exasperated and slightly annoyed.

Phil wouldn't be discouraged though, he followed through with his plan and put on his best pitiful expression. "Please?" He asked mournfully, hoping his nine years of YouTube experience had taught him to be as good as an actor as he hoped he was.

He watched Dan's expression go from annoyed, to sympathetic, to something unreadable, to one of utter defeat. A true emotional roller coaster for someone who insisted he "didn't give a fuck."

"Fine... We can go to the tree lot this weekend." Dan caved, his eyes lingering on Phil's before looking back at his computer screen, his ears slightly pink.

"Thank you! You're the best roommate ever!!" Phil exclaimed, hopping onto the couch to give the internet dweller a hug.

Dan wasn't given any time to react and raise his arms before they were restrained by his friend's embrace, so he awkwardly rested his chin on the top of Phil's head, the blush surely spreading from his ears to his cheeks.

'You closeted piece of shit.' Dan scolded himself inwardly once his roommate got up and walked out of the room "on a quest for caffeine." The longer he lived with his former internet idol, the stronger his feelings for Phil grew. Their relationship started out as purely platonic - and had been since - but the dorky and lovable antics of his roommate made it impossible to not like him as more than just a close friend. Phil had gotten Dan's hopes up even more when he came out to him as bisexual.

The brunette smiled at the memory - They had been marathoning nostalgic childhood movies at the time, and while Phil seemed to be enjoying the entertainment, he seemed slightly out of it. Finally, when an instrumental montage began in one film, the dork had sat up from his cocoon of blankets and looked over at Dan to speak up. Phil knew his roommate was open minded enough that his opinion wouldn't change of him, but his biggest fear was that Dan wouldhave second thoughts about their occasional cuddling. Of course, nothing changed between them - that is, on the surface at least.

Dan was completely head-over-heels. His seemly hopeless, repressed feelings before that night had now sprung up with giddy anticipation. At least now he knew he had a slightly larger chance with Phil.

Even so, Dan wasn't sure what he should do. The thing about being secretly infatuated with someone close to you is that you live in constant fear - fear of rejection and of change for the worse if the one you care for drifts away after the confession. Dan always pictured Phil being sympathetic if his feelings weren't reciprocated, so it couldn't be that bad... Right?

For the past couple of weeks, Dan was especially motivated to admit his feelings - it had got to a point where it felt like Dan had a time limit - but when was ever a good time to express your undying love for your best friend? No time seemed quite right.

It didn't help that numerous fans relentlessly posted phan art and phanfiction on tumblr... It was as if the fans could read his mind, and were either encouraging him or teasing him about it.

Little did he know that his roommate had a quite similar train of thought.

THIS STORY IS NOT COMPLETE

It is quite late now and I may be busy tomorrow morning, so I thought it might be more effective if I post the first half that I'm satisfied with in case there's a delay tomorrow. I know I'm kind of notorious for not being consistent, but I have a clear ending in mind that I would like to share, so I will devote my free time tomorrow to completing this story.

I apologize to any readers who find spelling, grammatical, or pacing mistakes! All of my usual editors are those to whom this story was created for, and I didn't want to deal out spoilers!

Merry Christmas, and to my friends in real life to which this story is devoted to, I love you all very dearly and hope that this story brings more happiness to the festive atmosphere <3 Thank you all for constantly making me feel loved and supporting me through the times I need it most :)
