My lips formed a small smile when Ryan Gosling leaned in toward me, my eyes fluttered shut and then I felt his lips about to gently brush mine in a slow, passionate way. Just before anything happened, my shoulders were roughly shaken. Still half asleep, I groggily sit up and rub my eyes in attempt to open them, as I rasp a good morning to my mom."Its too bad that I never got to feel his lips" I mumbled under my breath.
Looking up at my mom, she glanced at me with a judgmental 'what-were-you-doing-look' and says, "Dawn, were you dreaming about a special someone 'cause you looked like you were about to have a make out session." she teases. Feeling my face grow warmer, my mom knowing she was right, smirked.
"Okay, enough of embarrassing you, it's your first day of sophomore year!" my mom said excitedly. I groan when I heard the dreaded words, sophomore year. My mother rolls her eyes at me and continues to say "Just get up and get ready" as she walks out my door. Seconds after she walks out, my mom turns around abruptly to announce that breakfast is ready.
I unlocked my phone and realized that it was 6:02 am. I was happy that this gave me enough time to look cute and curl my long, brunette locks, then I got out of my bed to go eat breakfast. When walking down the stairs, I inhale a whiff of my favorite blueberry pancakes. I sat down at the dining table and started eating. My mom and I talked about dad having to stay later hours at work before I went to my room to get changed.
Looking through my closet and finding the perfect outfit, which never happens, a white crochet sweater paired with a blush pink skirt. To accessorize, I grabbed my long gold necklace and light brown flats. I started curling my hair when I hissed in pain from burning my finger on the scorching iron. Quickly running to the bathroom sink, I stub my toe on the corner of the door. I scream out in agony and being the klutz I am, my mom already knew what had happened.
I look at myself in the mirror, my light brown eyes stare back. Looking at my lightly chapped, full lips, I grabbed my favorite lip balm and decided to say "Screw it, Im not doing my makeup." I can already hear my best friends yelling at me for not trying on the first day of school. I leave my finger under the cool water before collecting myself and heading downstairs. Shouting out "Bye mom!" and before walking out the front door, my black cat, Luna comes to bid me goodbye. I smile and look at her big and beautiful blue eyes, I ruffled her fur and walked out the door. Hopping into my baby, a white BMW I had gotten as a gift from my parents, I start driving to my high school.
"Yes!"I cheered as I pulled into an empty parking spot.Once I got out of my car, I saw my best friends, Blair and Indigo waiting for me in front of our school, Riverside High.We all ran to each other like we hadn't seen each other in years and we got into a big group hug. Once we back out of the hug, we all looked at our outfits. Indigo was wearing a faux leather jacket with a black under shirt and a high-waisted maroon suede skirt. For accessories, she wore gold earrings and black booties. Blair was wearing a flowy black cardigan, a black undershirt, and a floral high-waisted skirt. To accessorize, she wore a baby pink scarf, chunky black boots and black knee-high socks.
"We all look hot," Blair commented and winked. Blair is the girly one of the bunch. Don't let Blair's kindness deceive you, she can be very sassy. "Hell yeah we do," Indigo adds. Indigo is the more edgy one of the group, who almost always wears black and has a nose ring. I smile and point out that we all should go inside before the bell rings. The girls agree and we head into the school.
After getting our schedules, the three of us see if we have any common classes. "We all have study hall for 6th period!" I squeal. "Also, all three of us have the same lunch too," said Blair. "Awww... you two have science together but not me," Indigo pouts. "Hey, at least we all have some classes together," I encouraged. "True, lets go put our stuff in our lockers," Indigo suggested.
All three of us didn't have the same homeroom, but our lockers weren't too far away from each other. All of a sudden, the hallway seemed to get quieter. I turn and saw the reason for the sudden hushed voices. The four most popular guys in our grade, Damien Evans, Ryder Williams, Grayson Carter, and Caden Stone.
We instantly look at each other and roll our eyes while the other girls were giggling and batting their eyelashes to catch the attention of one of the boys. Once I saw Damien wink at another girl; poor girl looked so lovestruck it was sad. I fake gagged and all of us laughed. I look back to the four and saw that Caden was looking at us with a questioning look. Blair noticing Caden, she gave him a fight-me look. Caden smiles slightly and shakes his head while he kept walking.
"Ugh, I swear I don't understand why all the girls like them, I mean they are hot but they are just players," Indigo rants. " I know right! Did you see Caden staring at us? I gave him my signature look," Blair smirked. "This is why we are best friends," I laugh. " Did you notice the guys got more fit over the summer?" Blair whispered. Indigo puts her hand over her heart and replies " Blair are you betraying us?!" Blair shrugs her shoulders and says " I guess because they are like wayyy cooler than us" but the smile on her face shows she was joking around. I laugh out loud and the two join in the laugher.
The bell rings and I bid my goodbyes to my friends. I looked at my schedule, 1st period history with Mrs.Nelson. While walking to class, I pass by familiar faces from last year. I stood in front of the classroom door and I let out a shaky breath I was holding. Walking in, I see at least seven kids already in class. Looking at Mrs. Nelson, I could tell she was around 50 years old and seemed to have a permanent scowl on her face. Feeling a slight bit intimidated, I pick a spot in the middle of the classroom as Caden Stone comes in.
"Good-morning to you ma'am" he addressed Mrs. Nelson. She replied with a curt nod as Caden sits down to my right. "Why must I be punished!?Why is he sitting next to me?" I wined in my mind. Once I heard Mrs. Nelson's voice, I snapped out of my daydream. "Hey dreamer girl, why don't you get your head out of the clouds," Mrs. Nelson said monotonously. I heard snickers around the room and while blushing, I muttered a sorry. After Mrs. Nelson took attendance, the class was instructed to take out a history textbook and take notes on the first chapter.
I felt tapping on my arm and saw Caden trying to say something to me. "Hey this morning why did you gag when you saw us?" he asks with an amused smile on his face like if he was replaying the memory. A little bit embarrassed from his question, I felt my cheeks heat up . I told him the understatement of the century,"Lets just say my friends and I don't really like your little clique." He looks at me and as he was about to say something, then the bell rang.
