Every fortnight, potential parents come and pick and choose children like we're a pick and mix waiting to be selected. The years of being ignored and cast aside have made it my least favourite day...apart from Monday.
I never had the opportunity to meet my real parents. I was left in the cold on the doorstep of Oak Tree orpanage as a baby, and have been here since, for the last
14 years. Today is adoption day,and also my last chance to get adopted. The couples never want older children. Too stroppy apparently. I happen to disagree.
As I wake up,I turn my alarm off and roll to the other side of my bed and grab my earphones.I put on zoellas new vlogmas video-BEST YOUTUBE CHRISTMAS PARTY- whilst doing some makeup. I put in a little bit of effort today,as if some kind of celebrity is going to show up.Doubt it. I decide on some winged eyeliner, concealer, powder, gold eyeshadow, mascara and some burgandy lipstick. Just like Zoe's autumn look. Just as I finish,my phone buzzes. I look at it and realise the text is from Maisy,my best friend. She told me good luck. We have known each other since nursery, and share the same love of youtube. I reply with thankyou, have a lovely day,I'll update you xxxxxxx. She replys back instantly saying you too xxxxxxx and I go downstairs and eat some yogurt and some granola with berries. Luckily, all the other children have eaten and are lining up already so I have the kitchen to myself. Sapphire, a little 5 year old girl with long blonde hair approaches me. "Hey esme"she says to me. She is the only person here that I trust,as ridiculous as that seems. I reply saying hey back and walk to the end of the line, right by the stairs.
