Chapter 2. Friends…or More?
Jacob’s P.O.V.
“Jacob?” Bella flew around the corner with a pile of clothes in her arms. She looked food deprived. Her eyes were black, with huge circles under them. Her lips were almost the same color of her skin. I walked over to her, and got the clothes out of her arms. She tilted her head and smiled at me. Bella led the way to Nessie’s room. The last time I came in here, the walls were covered with gothic band posters, and most of the clothes strayed across the room were black. Today, the bedroom was covered with pictures of Nessie and her family, even a few pictures of me and the pack.
“I came by to talk with you,” Jacob said, putting the clothes on Nessie’s bed. Bella got a suitcase from under her bed and started folding the clothes.
“Well, what is it, Jake?” Bella kept folding but looked up at me.
“The pack is not coming with us,” I looked at Bella, waiting for her reaction.
“Why not?” Bella started putting the clothes into the suitcase.
“La Push is their home,” I said, sitting down on the bed. “I think that it might be for the best if they stay here to protect the land,” I watched Bella as she stopped folding. She put the suitcase on the floor, and sat in its place.
“Will Sam become Alfa again?” Bella looked concerned, remembering how hard it was for me to get my position in the first place.
“No, Seth will take over.” I explained.
“I think that will be okay,” Bella nodded, running a hand through her hair.
“Leah wants to come, though,” I said. “She doesn’t do well under her brother’s orders, and she is really starting to enjoy the traveling. It takes her mind off Sam and other things,”
“Leah is always welcome,” Bella looked away, her eyes traveling to the floor. I could tell what she was thinking about.
“She is sorry, Bella,” I said, remembering the day I ran off, trying to find the person I would imprint on. Leah had stormed into the Cullen’s house and told Bella off. She had never really made amends with Bella, but there was one thing they had in common. Bella and Leah were strong through the tough times.
“I probably need to go hunt,” Bella mumbled, standing up. “Do you want to join?”
“No, I should be packing,” I looked up quickly. “When are we leaving anyway?” I asked.
“You can leave whenever you want,” Bella said. “We have two groups. Carlisle, Rosalie, Jasper and Edward are leaving tomorrow. Esme, Alice, Emmett, Nessie, and I are leaving in two weeks.”
“I think I’ll go with Blondie’s group,” I said, smiling at Bella.
“Don’t annoy her,” Bella warned, but letting a smile break through. Bella ran off. I went to go find the rest of the clan. I walked to the Cullen’s manor, knocking so Rosalie would not say something smart.
“Somebody let the dog in,” I heard Rosalie saying from somewhere upstairs. There was a long pause and they the door finally opened. Nessie stood in a floral dress, her hair in its usual flow. I smiled down at her and she smiled back, showing her perfect teeth.
“Hey, Jake,” Nessie smiled, gesturing for me to come in. I walked in seeing Esme and Emmett on the couch. I could smell three other Cullen’s upstairs.
“Where is everyone?” I asked.
“Aunt Rose and Granddad are packing their things. Aunt Alice is helping Aunt Rose. Dad and Uncle Jasper went hunting,” Nessie nodded her head and walked past me and into the kitchen. I followed her closely.
