As the recently turned History teacher began to bang on the glass door with the two students, the realism of the situation began to sink in a lot faster for everyone. Toby's nose began to bleed violently over his clean white shirt. “Oh shit, why does this have to happen now?” He began to clutch his nose in order to slow the gushing blood. Sam fumbled around in his bag for his maths book and tore a page from the back, he then handed the torn page to Toby. “Here, I never really cared for the subject anyway.” Toby used the page in hope to soak up some of the blood.

Everyone tried to regain their breath but none of them could stop thinking about how they were so close to losing their lives. James sat down against the wall and watched as the girl he just tried to save attempted to bite the window pane, he sighed and went into his bag and retrieved a juice carton. He pierced the top of it with ease, similar to what the teeth of those infected would to human flesh.

Sam gulped and took a nearby fire extinguisher off the wall, in the event they run into any more of those creatures, at least they would have something to defend themselves with. “I will go and check the other classrooms with Callum, you guys should take up shelter in another classroom.” It was funny because these once brave teenagers that could take on the world were now terrified of the possible death that may come to them.

Callum led the way whilst Sam carried the fire extinguisher, ready to smash the skulls of those who are infected. There was a problem here however, there was no phone system to link the Humanities block to the main building...which meant they would have to get into the main building to survive. It was fairly dark in the Humanities block, the lights were dim anyway, let alone with the darkened skies outside.

Joe went over to James and sat by him, “You couldn't save her mate, you would have been mauled just like Mr. Doyle...you did all you could.” James nodded and continued to drink his juice in silence, he paused and opened his mouth to speak but words didn't come out. Toby threw the blood stained paper to the floor and continued to examine the infected a few feet away from him. “You girls okay?” Katie nodded “y-ye-yeah sure, other than watching my History teacher's flesh being devoured I'm fine!”

Toby stood up and put his hands on the girls shoulders “It's okay to be afraid you know, In fact I just had a nosebleed because of it”. His attempt to lighten the mood failed but the others appreciated it. Joe stood up “Do you think that this is happening in town, where Kayleigh is...what if she's infected just like those?” James stood up “Then we have to get over there as soon as possible don't we.” He continued to walk towards Callum and Sam who were peeking into the empty classrooms.

Callum looked into the second room and saw that the emergency exit door was swaying in the breeze...it had been opened. “Sam, we may need that extinguisher!” The two burst through the door and were ready for the possible danger that awaited them...it was quiet but they could just about hear the banging of the glass door. Callum pulled the door closed and locked it in place, but were they safe? Had one of those beasts gotten in?

James burst through the door which made both Sam and Callum very scared. Sam waved his extinguisher around “For fuck sake James, don't do that!” James apologised “Joe is worried about Kayleigh and there is no way we can make contact with anyone else without a phone, it means we are going to have to get past those infected.” Erin joined them “So the plan is to get back in he main building then? How do you propose we do that exactly?”

Toby was still in the foyer part of the Humanities block with Joe and Katie. “I reckon we could just push these three aside with the door, I mean there are seven of us after all?” Joe nodded “That's crazy...but it's the only chance we have.” Sam, Callum, James and Erin reunited with everyone else. Katie turned to face them all and took a deep breath. “Okay so Toby reckons we can push them aside with the door and make a run for the main building, Sam you could set off the extinguisher like a diversion whilst we run?” Sam nodded at the plan and took out the pin from the red fire extinguisher.
