"just leave me alone! both of you!" i cried, tears flooding out of my eyes.

a few minutes before

lucas pulled maya's face close. he held her cheeks, smiling gently. maya had a shocked smile plastered onto her pale face. when he leaned in, maya's lips disappeared into lucas' face. after about fifteen seconds, lucas released maya and her eyes were sparkling joyfully. i could even see lucas smiling.

i couldn't watch anymore. tears filled my eyes, and i whirled around on my heel to face the brick wall across from topanga's. i was in shock; my best friend just kissed my boyfriend. soon enough, i was ready to confront the two of them. i burst through the door, holding back my tears.

"how could you, lucas?" i shoved him into the chairs. "i saw. you just kissed my best friend, and don't try to deny it." i could see a guilty look on maya's face, and lucas just stared at me.

"riley, it's not what you think," maya looked at me, "i was going on and on about how i couldn't be with my true love because he's too 'old' for me, so lucas grabbed me by the face to shut me up."

"then the kiss just.. happened. it was out of nowhere, i swear." lucas added.

"save it! you shouldn't have even grabbed her like that — we're a couple, and you just decided to hold her cheeks all sweet like that."

lucas slumped down in the chair, and maya reached her arms out to hug me.

"i'm sorry, sweetie," maya put her arms around me, but i pushed her away. that's when lucas tried to comfort me.

"just leave me alone! both of you!" i cried, tears flooding out of my eyes.

normal time

i was broken; i didn't even want to smile, like i always did. my best friend and my boyfriend, now my ex-boyfriend, kissed — both of them betrayed me.

but that wasn't the worst thing that's ever happened to me.

it's the fact that when i'm broken, i'm still expected to smile.

a/n: lmao i tried !! i'm not very good at writing but oh whale. by the way this is supposed to be a rucas fanfic even tho riley hates lucas so far, but yeahhh. i'm a rucas shipper.
