Vacation

Chapter 1

      I'm so happy today! Well I guess i should tell you why that is, see my family have been trying to to take a vacation for like five years now. I know you're probably like it's just a vacation, but my family is a little complicated. The first time we tried my dad said no because he said it cost too much. But yet he went out and bought a car that costed twice as much as the vacation would have. The year after that we couldn't go because we could not get a babysitter to watch my little sister, Roxane. The last babysitter said and I quote " I will never babysit here", I don't even know what we did to her. The next year our house caught on fire because  Jaden tried to cook and left the stove on.  I mean who does that. The next two years my dad's job had him traveling a lot. But this year I made sure nothing would get in the way of this vacation.
     So today is the last day of school and I'm just on edge of my seat waiting for the bell to ring. That's when my teacher says we have an little quiz to help boost up some people's grades. " Do I have to take this, because  I have an A  in here already?" I asked. "Yes, everyone has to take it. But don't worry it can only bring your grade up." She said. " I don't that's far." Said Jimmy. " Don't worry about dude, the only people who need to worry are just the four brainless guys in the back of the class." I said. " Yeah I know but I don't feel like doing any work. I only came to see all the fights that happen." He said. Just as I was about say something she said " quite the first quiz is out." But I wasn't really worried because school was about to be out in an hour. But of course most of the class was finished with it within like five to ten minutes. It was two o'clock and all the teacher decided to let everyone out of class since there was only thirty minutes, so me and my friends were just talking when we saw smoke coming from the school. " Ms. Smith there's a fire in the school!" We yelled. " That's not funny." She said. (Fire alarm went off) "Where's Don?" She asked. " He's still in there." I said. " Oh no!  Someone called 911." She said. With that she ran into the school as everyone else was evacuating. "Aj, we have to do something." Said Kim. " What can we  do? I mean we should just wait for the  fire department to get here." I said facing away from the school. " Come on man look, they said it will be thirty minutes before they get here. Plus this is a cool way to end the school year." Said Jimmy. " Fine. I guess the school need to be here for when we get back." I said. After that Kim, Jimmy and I went a got some other kids to help out. We weren't doing the best job but as we were still trying we heard the fire trucks racing the street along with the ambulance and the police. They finally get here and they start yelling at us. " Get away from there you kids." Said a police officer. So they get ready to go into the school when we tell them that Ms. Smith and Don are still in there. They go in and everyone is pasting back and forth. They finally come back out with both of them and put out the fire.
         Once everything was over we got to go home. The bus ride home was really fun, giving the fact that the school was just on fire. Once the bus got to my stop I raced off the bus. " Hey  mom and dad."  I said. " Oh thank god your're ok." Said  mom. " I guess you saw the news." I said. " Yeah we did. Are you ok, what happen?" Asked  dad. " Well first I'm fine and second they're still investigating what happen." I told them. " I'm just glade your brother and sisters didn't see." Said dad. " Yeah yeah, I cant't wait till we leave for vacation." I said. " We know Aj, that's all you have been talking about." Said Evy walking into the living room. " But I can't blame you, every time we tried it never worked  out." She said.  " I know, but not this time." I said. I ran into  my room to finish packing. That's when my brother Jaden came into my room to see what he should pack. I just told him just pack some clothes and something to keep him busy on the trip. After that I fell asleep for about an hour or so. that's when I hear mom say " kids come down for dinner" so I hurried down. " What's for dinner mom?" Asked Roxanne. " Fried chicken, Mac and cheeses, and broccoli." She said. " Sounds yummy honey." Said dad. "  Yeah mom. So where are we going  for vacation?" I asked. " Well if you must know, we're going to California." Said mom.  " Cool! So can we take turns driving?" I asked. " What you mean, you don't know how to drive." Said Evy. " Yeah I do." I said. " Hitting a tree, stop sign and  the curb doesn't count as knowing how to drive." She said. " I think he can drive." Said Jaden eating his food. " We'll see." Said dad. " Yes!" I said jumping up. " Cool it bird brain that's not a yes." Said Evy.  " Are you done eating Roxanne"? Asked mom. " Yes mommy." She said. " well come on, lets get you ready for bed." Said mom. But when she looked back at Roxanne she was sleep at the table. " Well I'm going to put he in bed." Said mom. " Yeah, we're turning in too." Said Evy and Jaden. I stayed to clean the kitchen before going to lay down. But I was too excited to sleep. Plus I took a nap earlier today. So I just watched one of my favorite movies Insidious.
        As the movie went off I just lied there in bed, I got bored and decided  to just walk around the house. Our house is so big I'm still finding new room, but I never tell them. So after about two hours of walking around, I finally started to get sleepy so I went back to bed. Around nine O'clock the smell of bacon and I ran down. " Something smells good." I said. " Well its about time you woke up, you know mom don't let us eat till everyone is at the table." Said Jaden. " I'm sorry." I said. That's when everyone started to eat. " Hey Aj, they found out what cause the fire at your school." Said dad. " Nope, School is out. I don't want to hear anything bout that places." I said. " Oh by the way Jimmy called, he said that  might be moving." Said Evy. " What! When did he call?" I asked. " About an hour ago. Roxane don't play with your food." Said mom. " I have to call him!"  I said. " Can't, he's not home." Said dad. " Ok, I'll just talk to him when he gets back." I said. " So are you still going to help Jaden pack?" Asked mom. " Sure, don't have much time left." I said. I finished my food and then asked to be excused from the table. I went up stairs and started to help Jaden pack, when he comes up here and start saying " your doing it wrong" and I'm ok. " Well how do you want it?" I asked. " I don't, I just know you're doing it wrong." He said. " Fine, I'll redo it." I said. So I start all over. " How about that?" I asked. " No" He said. And this went on for about an hour. Then he finally says yes.  All I could do was zip up his bag and leave. " Hey Evy!" I yelled. " Boy what you screaming my name for?" She asked. " How about next time you take Jaden and I take Roxanne." I said. " Let me think, no. Why do you think you had to help him this time." She said. Then she just walked away, which was fine with me because I had to pack a few more things. You know just in case we go to the beach.
       So after I'm done packing I see Kim walking down the street, so I go and catch up with her. " Hey, wait up."I said. " Oh, hey Aj, I though you and your family were going on vacation." She said. " We leave tomorrow. So is Jimmy really not coming back?" I asked. " He's not too sure about that yet." She said. " Oh, well I guess that's good. So where you going?" I asked. " Babysitting today. But I'll text you later. Ok?" She said. " Ok, have fun sitting on babies lol." I said. So I go back inside to play some video games to kill time. In between playing I started to get hungry. So I go to make me a sandwich when Jaden and Roxanne came into the kitchen. " Can we make one?" Asked Roxanne. " No." I said. " Fine, we'll just go tell that your making a sandwich before dinner." Said Jaden smiling. " Fine! Make one." I said. Little did I know, if they got caught they would say I told them it was ok. But really what I said was they could make one at their own risk. But the three of us managed to eat dinner so mom nor dad though anything of it. " Ok listen everyone, everyone needs to be up and ready at 6 tomorrow morning." Said dad. "Well enough talk, let's all go to bed now." I said. " Ok." They said. We all went to bed, but made sure to set our clock's to wake us up.
        " Mom, dad wake up!" I yelled. " What is it Aj?" Asked dad confused. " We over slept." I said. " What, no way. we all set our alarms to go off." Said mom. " Look at the clock." I said. " Oh, ok don't get get mad at me but I accidentally set the clock for five p.m." She said. " What's with all the noise?" Asked Evy. " We're in a hurry, that's what's with the noise."  I said. Then my mom turned on the tv and saw that the interstate was about to be close for eight hours. " Ok, everybody get ready and have yall bags in the car by nine-thirty." She said moving fast. This was the only morning that my family ever moved fast. Two years ago my uncle died and would believe that we got there two hours late to the funeral, the funeral was literally down the street from our house. But of course I'mm not complain because if we driver fast enough then we can make up for the time. " Everyone ready?" Asked dad. " Yeah." We all said. So we though, my dad goes to start the car and it stalled. So he tried again and again, then he went to see if he could find the problem. But it didn't take a scientist to see it, there was chocolate all  over the inside. " Well...how can I say this where yall will not get mad?  It's going to be at lest two hours before we can go." He said. " What! Why?" I asked. " Well because some way   the inside of the hood  is covered with chocolate and it got on everything." He said. As I'm sitting there wondering how this could have happen, I look over and see Jaden smiling. " Are you crazy or something!?" I asked. " What, what did I do?" he asked. " Why did you put chocolate in the hood?" I asked. " I don't know, I didn't think it would mess the car up." He said. " Boys cut it out or we can just stay home." Said mom. I just hoped out the car, trying to think of something. " Why don't we just take dad's truck?"Asked Evy. " Lets go!" I said loud. We loaded the car so fast that we were able to hit the interstate. Everyone was doing their own thing, until Roxanne realized that she forgot Sarah. " Wait we have to go back home!" Yelled Roxanne. " What for?" Asked Jaden.  " I forgot Sarah. " Are you kidding me, it's just your  imaginary friend, just imagine that she here already." I said. " That's not nice Aj." Said Evy. But I guess it didn't matter because dad had turned around.
          We pulled up in the drive way, dad and Roxanne ran inside to go get her. That's when Jaden and Evy hit me. " Och, what was that for?" I asked. " You know Roxanne  thinks Sarah is real." She said. " Yeah so what."  I said. Evy was about to say something when Jaden cut her off. " You brought this on your self. You remember max right?" He asked. " Yeah, what about him?" I asked. " Oh I don't know, maybe the fact that you cried  a river when you though he got hit by a car." He said. " Ha ha,  yeah you pretty much lost your best imaginary dog that day." Said Evy. That's when dad and Roxanne  came back to the car and we were on our way again.  " You two now what, I don't have to put up with this." I said. But them two already went back to doing whatever they were doing before. So as dad was driving, he suggested that we sang some songs to lighten the mood. But mom didn't want to because she know that she couldn't sing. So dad popped in a CD, which said " Family road trip songs" but it wasn't,  some kinda way it was songs for kids. Little kids and I was not about to sing to any of them. Especially when a Hanna Montanan came on.  So the whole drive I'm losing my mind. I was so happy, I think I flew out the car before it even stopped. " Where's the fire AJ?" My dad asked.  " Now where dad, I'm just happy to be able to move around." I said. " Well we will be here for the night." Said mom. " What!?" We all said. " Claim down kids, don't bite our heads off. It was the only hotel that was cheap " Said dad. We go to the room and soon find out that there is only two rooms. " How will this work? Asked Jaden. " Well me and your mother will take one room and yall can figure this out on yall own." Said dad. And with that he closed the door. Well that night Me and Jaden ended up sleeping on the couch and floor.
