“You are one big disappointment Alliana!” dad shouted at me.

It’s still rings on my ears while walking my way going to my school where I am taking my course which is Political Science.

Every time I show my grades to my dad. He always scolds me for having a failure grade, if you consider 2.5 as a failing grade which is my lowest grade?

“Why is my dad so perfectionist? He never becomes proud of everything that I do! He is always like that! Did he want me to make miracle just to achieve his expectations? He doesn’t even care if I achieve something. Maybe he wants me to conquer this stupid unfair world!” I murmured angrily to myself.

“Why did god let me have a father like him?’ I asked cold-heartedly.

“Hey! What’s happening to you? You walk like a turtle! Hurry up! We’re going to be late!” my best friend scolded at me.

I just let him walk away without a single explanation on what is going on with my life.

“I hate myself. I hate my life. I hate everything that concerns me.” Talking rudely to myself as I enter our school property.

There comes all the fake-faced creatures they called students. The ugly-begotten oldies they called teachers. And other people who don’t care about each other’s existence but probably care more about the benefits you could hand on them. They all look stupid with those fake smile, happy senseless chatting and stupid lies beneath their skins.

“Why do I have to be imprisoned in this place they called learning institutes?” I sighed and prayed that today, everything will be okay.

Being a political science student, it is hard for me to think positively when you see that reality is not that really nice like fantasy stories and tales do describe. Who would think positively If you see that there are so many politicians who are too rich just by signing a piece of shitty paper while there are so many families out here in the streets begging for a cent or a piece of bread? Who would think positively if there are so many people out there having the time of their lives with those beaches and restaurants while the children out here in the roads were selling their bodies just to have good food on their plates?  And how will you think positively if there are so many people spending their money for gadgets and stuff because it is just the trend, while other children can’t even buy slippers or decent clothes to cover their skinny bodies? And how will you think positively if you work hard to pass the subject while others cheat on you and they get the higher grade?

I know this is reality but this reality shouldn’t be cruel like this because of unfairness and wrong use of power and ability.

“Too much to think of it, I must first worry on my class report.” I entered the room and get my laptop to study again my assigned stupid topic.

Then the professor came and started the class.

After 3 hours subject, I went to this 24/7 store near our school to get some refreshments and to study the topic for our quiz for the next subject.

Going there, I saw an old lady across the street handling her handkerchief with the face of the Nazarene and candle sticks. Right next to her is I think a 3 year old boy who’s already crying for food. She was patting the child’s back to stop the boy’s tantrums.

“How awful that situation was.” I think while looking at them.

Next thing I see is that I’m buying triple the amount of what I can eat. And look for the same old lady again. I hand it over to the child and the child excitedly opens the burger and the fries that I ordered for them.

“Wow! You know what ate (older sister)? This is my first time to eat this kind of food. I am really thankful for this!” the boy told happily on me with his very cheerful face.

“Really? I’m very happy that you like my gift to you.” I said while smiling.

“A gift? But today is not my birthday?” he asked.

“I know, but you see, you don’t have to wait for a special day to give a gift or a present. If you want to help and make a person happy, you can do that anytime.” I told him softly.

“Oh, I see.” Then he hugs me tight. “I’m sorry ate (older sister), but I don’t have anything that I own. I can only give you a hug to thank you for you kindness.”

I was shocked, and the only thing that I can do is to rub his head and bid goodbye.

Who would have thought that I’m the one who explains him about giving others happiness which nobody gave me when I needed it and I never thought that a child would give me a huge present in an awful day like this when he is the one who doesn’t own anything.

Who says that money can buy everything? And who says that material things will make you happy? For me, you cannot buy anything that can cost more than the sincerity that that child has given me.

“Miracles do exist in this kind of world.” I said to myself, smiling while going to that same, old, boring school again.
