It was like I was in a book of some kind. He was here standing in front of me. Four feet from touching distance yet my ears were telling me that he was beside me whispering to me. I gulped the urge to leap over and smash my lips against his beginning to bubble inside me.

"You're an idiot." The urge evaporated instantly and that desire turned into anger.

"What?!" I ignored it when my brother put his hand on my shoulder and blocked out Jean when she began to whisper to me.

"I said you're an idiot." The anger ignited behind my eyes and I glared my hands trembling as I felt my nails dig into my palm. An idiot! The man of my dreams can't call me an idiot! He's meant to be the man of my dreams!

"I am not-" He cut me off.

"First you walk into this school, ignore the principles words and now you start a fight with the head honcho. That makes you an idiot." Jean grabbed my arm. I looked at her releasing my fingers and relaxing the muscles in them. I turned to him and smirked.

"I am not an idiot. An idiot is someone who'd pick a fight and lose. And I will not lose! I absolutely will not lose! I cannot lose!" I screamed pointing at him. His eyes widened slightly then a smile stretched across his lips it froze my body for the second time and my mouth refused to move. Francis short for Francisco in other words my brother hit the back of my head. I stumbled forwards then turned to glare at him.

"Excuse her tongue. She's just being rude." My jaw dropped open. Did he just... Apologise! For me! Jean grabbed my arm and began tugging me away. I glared at my brother heat in my chest.

"Rude?! I WAS BEING RUDE!!! HE CALLED ME AN IDIOT AND I WAS BEING RUDE!" I couldn't tell what was more insulting, the fact that he called me an idiot or that my brother apologised. I glared at man of my dream and he held his hand up waving with a smirk. I struggled against Jean grip ready to kick his ass.

"Lil stop it! Zane is untouchable in this place. If you hit him even once then you've got the principle to deal with!" My body stopped moving with confusion and I glanced at Jean.

"Wait what...?" I asked. She let me go with sigh and I took a step away from her tilting my head.

"At least you've relaxed." She smiled softly at me with a weird tilt of her top lip and all the kindness I remembered in those brown eyes of hers. I rubbed the back of my neck feeling the embarrassing heat in my cheeks.

"Sorry. My temper gets the better of me sometimes." I faced her and smiled. She made a cute noise as her shoulders moved and I realised that she was laughing. It was a sound that carried me to the past and I laughed losing myself to its sound.

"You think?" I sighed and rolled my shoulders around the weight that was on it was gone so I glanced back at Jean and saw her staring to her right. I turned and heat stung at my fingers. It was Clare. She stood with a hand on her hip and walked towards me with two girls giggling behind her.

"There's no way that a rodent like you can ever defeat me." She smirked at me as the girls behind her laughed louder.

The pushed past up one of them shoved Jean off her feet and to me that was the last straw. I felt all the anger enflame in my hand and I took a step and swung my arm but it was caught by the same girl that stopped me before. I stared at Jean and saw something that I had never seen in her eyes before. It was rage, pure and unrefined as if there was a rube trapped in the mud bricks of her eyes but in less than a second it was gone she had smothered it with her control.

"That is enough Clare. This place is not a battle field!" My jaw dropped literally and I flicked my head to look at Clare she turned to Jean with a smile and walked towards us.

"Tell that to your friend here. She seems to think it is." She said pointing at me. I growled loudly making her take a step away from us. That's right b****walk away!

"Clare. I am not one to fight and it's you who knows that. I am your friend and I don't to choose between you and Lilith so please don't make me." My breath stopped and I looked at Jean Hearing the Mr Andrews words echo in my head "But do you know what she told me? She told me that she needed to go to a public school just in case her best friend moved here... now how do you think she'd feel...?"I sighed rubbing my neck and reached a hand out to Clare.

"I'm sorry for what I said and I'm sorry that I put up a fight but I don't want trouble." She cringed away from me.

"Ew...! I liked you better when you tried to be hot stuff." She turned away from my hand and walked off. Rage ignited inside of me and it took all the mental strength I had to not turn around and rip her throat out.

"Fuck her. Let's take that throne." I gasp looking at Jean. I could see the ruby in her eyes again it was basically on the surface now breaking through her calmness. She turned to me with a smile that I didn't expect and I smiled back lifting my hand out with a nod.

"Let's do it." She grabbed my hand and we smiled at each other.
