The Letter

"Oh, oh no!" I said as I looked at what I'd just written. "I-I don't know how to deal with this!" I cried as I grabbed the paper, crumpled it, and threw it away. "What the hell are you blabbing about now, jackass?!" said a shrill voice behind me. "N-nothing, Ragnarok. I-I just, I don't know how to deal with writing letters." I replied knowing Ragnarok would take the paper I had just discarded out of the small tin bucket. "Bah! Hahahaha! Idiot, I'm gonna show this to everybody!" he exclaimed. "No, please, don't!" My response meant nothing, he was going to do it anyway. Unless...

"What are you doing, stupid! The party's THAT way!" Ragnarok pointed behind us before punching me in the head. I couldn't let him show anybody, especially not Maka. I'd have to leave anyway, if Ragnarok showed them. Maka would shun me for sure. "Is it about that stupid letter? Geez, Crona! You sensitive shit! I was just joking, I threw it away after you passed out last night, chill!" the shrill voice continued. "Go back! Maria's making the food this year!" he pleaded. I almost did go back but, I made up my mind. Eventually my feelings would be made clear and I'd be rejected... I don't know how to deal with that. They didn't miss me anyway...

I went to my hiding spot that I was sure nobody knew about. No one ever found me here before. It was a small shack in the outskirts of town. I pulled on the makeshift door I made and walked in. I sighed as my anxiety started to fade away a bit. I walked over and sat on the little cot that was left there and set my bag on the sandy floor. "Ugh, Crona! What are we even going to DO out here? Did you even bring any food, knucklehead?!" Ragnarok exclaimed. I let out another sigh as I reached in the bag and pulled out a tupperware dish filled with last night's leftovers. He snached it from my hand as soon as he saw it. I scooted back into the corner at the foot of the cot and leaned my head against the wall. I thought about the upcoming holiday... Christmas. Something I never heard about when I was living with my mother.

*CRASH!* I shot up from my spot. "What the hell was that! Crona what the hell did you do!" Ragnarok yelled as he hit me in the head. "I-I don't know, I didn't do it, Ragnarok!" I replied. I looked around the shack to find a small, black cat. "I found him!" it chirped. "Oh, no!" I said under my breath just before a boy with messy blue hair busted through the door. "How dare you bail out on the great Black Star and his friends! Do you want me to kick your ass?!" the boy shouted in his usual annoyingly arrogant voice. "Yeah, Crona! What the hell! That's so not cool." Soul joined in. "I-I just..." I managed to say before the two pulled me outside. I tried to resist but, Black Star just threw me over his shoulder and kept walking with his friend.

"We found him, he was exactly where Blaire said he'd be." Soul said as he walked through the door to him and Maka's house. Black Star put me down in the middle of their living room. I looked at the floor, that was the only way I could handle being with so many disappointed people. "Where'd you go?" a girl's voice said. I knew that voice. It was Maka. "I-I-I don't know how to deal with-" I got out before Ragnarok butted in. "He was freaking out about his stupid letter to Santa!" He exclaimed. "Crona... you didn't have to write him if it made you uncomfortable, goofball!" Maka said with a giggle as she lightly thumped me on the head with a book. "Oh, you mean this?" Stein asked as he pulled a crumpled paper out of his pocket. "I found it on the floor when I was looking for something to inspire an experiment." He explained as he handed it to Maka. "No-no! Please! Don't read that!" I cried, leaping forward to grab the paper. I was too late, she read it. "Crona..." She said softly as she hugged me, she was so warm. A tear escaped my eye. "Merry Christmas." She whispered before kissing me on the cheek. My face felt hot and I forgot where we were and who was with us.

Suddenly I heard Black Star burst into laughter and turned my attention to him. He was holding up the piece of paper. "What's so funny!" Soul shouted before stealing the paper from the boy's grasp. Soul looked at it and read out loud. "Dear Santa, I don't mean to bother you, if I am but, I heard that if I write you, saying what I want for Christmas. You'll get it for me if I was good. Well, I only want one thing... I want Maka..."
