Dimitri POV-
We stood in the rain next to our father and mother's grave stones. I held an umbrella over Rosaline's head, tears dripped from her eyes and mine. I kept thinking to myself, "What am I to do now. Its just me and Rosa, my sweet little sister. My gods, please help us." I hugged Rosa and she cried into my chest, I stroked her short, soft, brown hair, and I looked up into the sky, rain dripping onto my face.
~ A Month Later~
"Dimitri! Dimitri! Wake up!" Rosa screamed into my ear. I slowly opened my eyes and shook my head "What's wrong Rosa? Is everything okay?" I questioned her.
"Dimitri it... it's snowing! It's actually snowing!" She said happily, I sat up and looked out the window, it hadn't snowed since mother had died that fateful winter.
I looked at her as her eyes grew with wonder and happiness. It has been a month since Rosaline had smiled, her beautiful smile always lit up the room.
"Rosa?" I looked out the window once again, and she looked at me with confusion "What Dimitri?" Rosa questioned me. I turn my focus over to her with a smile, "Happy Birthday."
She lit up once again with joy "Thank you Dimitri. Could we go out and ride the horses in the snow?" Rosa asked with a glimpse of hope.
I nodded "Of course, why not." She jumped up and twirled around with happiness "Oh thank you, thank you, thank you!" Rosa leaned over and kissed my cheek then ran down the spiral stairs.
I got out of bed and got dressed, then headed down as well.
Rosaline POV-
I got to the front door and ran out to the barn. I went to the stables inside and found my beautiful white horse, Angela. I brushed her soft nose and waited for Dimitri, my older brother. He had brown hair just like me, but his hair was a little longer than mine.
I began to shiver finally realizing that I had forgotten my coat. Dimitri comes around into the barn holding my coat, "Rosa, please, remember your coat. I don't want you to get sick." He helped me put it on and then smiled.
Dimitri went to his horse which was black with some white spots around him, his horse's name was Danny.
I got my horse out of her stable and put my saddle on her back, then hopped onto her back. Dimitri did the same.
I looked up into the sky once we left the stables and let the snow fall onto my face, the cool touch made me smile. "Rosaline, come on." Dimitri called me out of my daze and I began to follow after him.
We rode for hours, until we came upon our favorite spot, a cliff with the best view of miles of trees and lakes. I hopped off of Angela and tied her to a branch near by and walked to the edge of the cliff feeling the winter breeze blow my hair back.
I looked over at Dimitri and smiled brightly, but then remembered when mother first brought us up here. "Dimitri... I miss momma..." I said and looked over to the view of the lands.
He looked down at me "I do too, Rosaline. I do too... But you know what, mother is looking down on us, protecting us... She would be so proud of you Rosa. You've grown to a beautiful young lady..."
I smiled and looked at the cloudy sky "I miss you momma, I miss you so much..." I whispered. I suddenly felt weird and then a vision suddenly flashed in my eyes. I gasped and looked around trying to make out what I was seeing.
'Theres no time Rosaline Vasilisa Hathaway I need your help... and your brothers. You must hurry, I shall imprint a map into your head. But you must be carful, you are very special and there are bad men after you. You are in grave danger, you must go now! Your mother had died so early, she couldn't explain to you why your so special, your mother was a very important woman. But no time to explain, your of age and must hurry! I'll explain when we meet! Now go! NOW!'
I faint and fall to the ground...
Dimitri POV-
"Rosaline! Rosaline wake up! Please sister wake up!" She just fainted, "please god don't be dying, please, please don't leave me..."
Her eyes began to open "Rosa!" I pulled her into my arms, holding her tight.
"Dimitri... I... I..."
"Shh sweet sister everything is alright..."
"No, Dimitri... I can't breathe..." I realized then I had been crushing her "Oh... Sorry..." I released her and she took deep breaths.
"Rosa what happened?" I questioned helping her up.
"I don't know... But I know we have to leave from here... Now..." I looked at her confused "What do you mean 'We have to leave here now'?"
"There's so much to tell, I will explain on the way home..." Rosa ran to her horse and I to mine, then rode quickly back home. Her explaining why we had to leave.
"Rosaline, do you know how crazy you sound?" I said as she ran inside shoving clothes and items into a bag.
"I know it does but it happened. Now go get your stuff. Or you can stay here... I can survive on my own. I know how to use my bow..." Rosa grabbed her bow and quiver full of arrows.
"You may know how to use it, but would you be able to shoot someone?" she stopped and took a deep breath.
"I... If I have to, yes..."
I stopped and let out a sigh, ran upstairs and grabbed a bag, shoving clothes in it. Then looked to see if I forgot something and saw my sword father gave me, and put it in its scabbard and wrapped it around my waist.
Rosa grabbed a piece of paper and quill, and started drawing the map she said she saw in her head.
I grabbed a bag and filled it with food.
Then, we left.
