Epilogue

"Alex is the black haired child, Winston is my blonde," Mrs. Evans said, fluffing her golden locks when she mentioned Winston. "Ayden has Jacob's lighter brown hair," She said, referring to her husband, Jacob. "And Oliver has a more chocolate hair." I nodded, trying not to talk too much. "We've just asked you here for the summer to make sure our boys don't get into any trouble. Your mother has informed me that you are extrememly responsible for your age, and that you should handle this job well." At this I smiled. My mother always speaks so highly of me, especially when it came to bragging about one's children at the country club, which is where my mum and Mrs. Evans hit it off.

"Any who.." Mrs. Evans said, looking around the living room, as if debating whether she should pack the paintings on the white walls. "I best be off, wouldn't want to miss my plane!!" She turned and grabbed her large, red purse, which had been laying on an expensive looking coffee table. As she looked up at me I smiled brightly, just to make it safe that she liked me. She smiled back, but it was one of those smiles you give to a stranger when you catch them staring at you. Polite, but distant.

She nodded, as if bucking her many wondering thoughts off her head. "Well.. The boys are out playing football in the fields, but if you need anything, anything at all!! Just give me a ring," She told me, holding up her classy, but petite cell phone. I nodded once more, before walking her to the front door. Only one thought running throught my head: Why am I really here??

"Goodbye dear, keep in touch. Tell me how the boys are doing once in a blue moon, won't you??" As she requested this, I, for the first time since meeting her, realized what an attatched mother she must be. After all, it must be hard for her to keep track of four young boys, all no more than one year apart.

She made her way out the door, as I flashed my goodbye smile. Just as she was about to close the door behind her, she stopped. That was when she uttered the words that would be repeating in my mind all summer long.

"Oh, and when you meet them, try not to show your surprise. You'll want one of these boys to remember the first time he laid eyes on you.."
