Chapter Five

A/N: I'm FINALLY uploading! Sorry about the almost month long delay. I've been super busy the past few weeks, and whenever I got the time to write, I had writer's block.  :/

I made a few editing changes in some of the earlier chapters. Nothing drastic though. I just added a little more detail and whatnot. The only semi-drastic thing I changed was Mikaelah's age. I made her sixteen instead of fifteen so that she can drive. You'll hopefully understand why I did that soon, but I really didn't want to write in a birthday. Also, I made a new cover. What do you think? (:

Anyway, I'll stop rambling now. Here's chapter five.

"Did you see that new guy today?" Taylor asks from my pantry, stuffing a bag of Cheetos into her black Juicy Couture purse. We ended up stopping back at my house so I could change out of my sweats and into more presentable clothing before the movie and decided to bring our own food.

"Yeah, he's in my choir class," I say, tossing her a water bottle from the fridge door and grabbing one for myself.

"Woah, he sings?" she asks, eyes widening slightly, showing interest.

"Um, yeah," I answer, switching my weight to my left foot uncomfortably.

"Oh my gosh! That is so cute! Is he any good?"

I just shrug casually. "Yeah, I guess." Congratulations. You just won the award for understatement of the year. Way to go, Mikaelah!

"Did you think he was cute?" Taylor throws yet another question at me. What is this? A freaking talk show? Jeez.

"Um, sure...?" I respond simply attempting blow off the question, though I feel a blush slowly creeping up into my cheeks. What is going on with me?

Taylor smirks and takes a few moments to register my reaction to her question. I just stand there silently, staring at my feet, practically able to hear the thoughts ticking around inside her head. After a while, I start to become annoyed and clear my throat to try and get her attention.

"Tay? Yo, Taylor!" I begin to wave my hands back and forth in front of her face.

     "Yeah?"

"Stop trying to think of ridiculous schemes to get me and the new guy together. Shouldn't we get to the movie?" I ask rather impatiently.

Taylor rolls her eyes and says, "Okay, fine, but just know that this conversation isn't over."

I narrow my eyes, trying to think of a sassy comeback but then sigh, knowing that there is no point in arguing with her. "Sure, whatever. Let's go then," I say with an overly cheery voice on the last sentence. Taylor laughs and flicks off the pantry light, following me out of the kitchen. On the way to the front door, we pass my mom in the living room concentrated on some weird doctor show. We attempt to get out quicker so as not to get interrogated by my mother, but our plan gets interrupted by her voice.

"Do you girls have plans tonight?" she asks as we walk past.

Yes, we do. Now can we leave? I want out of this place.

"Oh, we were going to go see the new Harry Potter movie tonight, if that's all right with you, mom," I say, already knowing what the answer is going to be before he even says it.

"As long as you're not out too late." Oh, that's new. Since when does she care when I get home?

"We're going to the 7:10 showing, and it's supposed to be a little over two hours long, so I'll be home around 10:00 at the latest."
