All of a sudden, I was in what seemed like, a town square. There were men everywhere. They were scrambling about the area like each one needed to be somewhere important. Men of all different shapes and sizes. There were plenty of different buildings around as well. Big ones, small ones, old, new. This was like a hidden city!
"Come here, nico!" I said quickly before he could wonder off.
He hopped into my arms and I turned around only to find a brick wall. The entrance was gone.
"No. No. No. No." I whispered to myself, gliding my hands over the entrance.
As I was in shock about the entrance to this strange place, disappearing, a man noticed me.
"Oh my. Oh my goodness!" He shouted loudly. He was dressed like a normal guy. Jeans, striped shirt, and nice shoes.
I cocked my eyebrow up, not knowing who this person was.
"I'm sorry. I don't know......you." I said pausing and looking around.
It's like everyone in the town square froze. They all looked at me. Their eyes grew wide and their smiles stretched from ear to ear.
"FEMALE!!!!" One man yelled.
Next thing I knew, Nico and I were running for our lives. We ran through the town square and into a patch of woods. That might have been the fastest I have ever ran. I kept sprinting until I spotted a little area with multiple cottages. I ran into the first one I saw and hid in a room. I heard the stampede of mean wondering around the area and knocking on doors, asking if they have spotted a female. Then, I heard someone knock on the front door of the cottage I was in. There was a person in the back of the cottage that went to the door and answered it.
"Have you seen a female around here? Anywhere?!" The man asked aggressively.
"No sir. Just me in here. I haven't seen a female around here since the queen visited our city." The resident answered.
I gasped when I recognized the voice. The door shut and I ran out of the room. Our eyes locked.
"Jace!" I smiled and ran up to him.
"Maiyah! What are you doing here?! You can't be seen! Follow me. Hurry!" He said quickly.
I followed him to the back room and put Nico down.
"Maiyah.." He said quietly. Then he stepped towards me and hugged me tightly.
"Jace, what's wrong?" I said hugging him back and looking up into his eyes.
"Thank god they didn't catch you. I wouldn't be able to live with myself..." He said, his eyes watering.
"No. No, they wouldn't have. Don't be sad Hun. Just...explain what the hell is going on. Okay.?" I said, ending up giggling.
He chuckled and sat down on the wooden floor. I sat in front of him, my legs around his waste. He pulled my body close and put his forehead to mine.
"I live here. This is where I come to. This place is called Salyndria. It's not a city, or a hidden town or anything. It's an alternate universe." He explained.
"What?!" I yelled pulling my head back.
"Shh! I know. I know. The only reason that you were able to come here is because you're a unicrosser. You can cross into different universes. The only reason you were practically trampled over is because this universe is only 17% woman. Not many woman live in this area either." He continued.
"How am I a unicrosser?! Was I like, born like that?! Or...?!" I said trying to grasp the concept.
"One of your parents was. That's the only way you can be." He explained.
"This...is so bad ass!" I laughed. "I mean, usually people would be kind of freaked out but, im the total opposite!"
Jace smiled. He knew I was adventurous and up for anything life brings. I mean, I've been through a lot. My parents are dead. My mother died of cancer when I was fourteen and my father killed himself shortly after. Stephen is a lovable, psychotic, and overly protective older brother who has been raising me for five years. Also, the whole thing about only me seeing jace...that packed quite the punch.
"Are you ready to go back to Oregon?" He asked while standing and picking me up, my legs still clinging around him.
"Yeah. Lets go." I smiled, unhooking my legs and grabbing Nico.
Jace looked at me and smiled. "Close your eyes."
I closed them and opened them after five seconds of pure silence.
"Why do I nee-" I couldn't finish that question.
We were back at the lake. The birds were chirping, my jeep was parked where I left it. Everything was back to normal.
"Jace, that was so cool!!" I said giggling and running up to him and tousling his hair.
He laughed and started heading to my jeep. I chased after him, Nico trailing behind us. The car was unlocked and I hopped into the driver seat. Jace and I buckled up and I put Nico on Jace's lap.
"He's so cute!" Jace said petting him.
I giggled and put the jeep in reverse. Boy, what a day.
