Calum
We pull into the hospital parking lot and without the car even stopping completely, I jump out of the car and head to the hospital entrance. My eyes red and vision blurry from crying. I can hear the boys yelling for me but I could care less right now. I plow into the hospital entrance and go straight to the front desk."Hi I'm looking for my mother and sister. They were in a car accident and I don't kn-" I start but am interrupted.
"Sir you need to calm down." The lady says as the boys walk through the door.
"I can't fucking calm down!" I yell slamming my hand on the desk. She looks stunned and a little fearful. "I'm sorry." I say, I turn to see the boys standing there also quite stunned at my quick little outburst.
"It's ok sir. What are their names?"
"Joy and Mali Koa Hood." I say and she types something in the computer.
"They'll be on the third floor. Here's a visitors sticker, you'll need this."
"Thank you. They're with me too." I say pointing towards the boys but an elevator came and couldn't waste time. "I'll meet you on the third floor!" I yell just as the doors shut.
Luke
"I'll meet you on the third floor!" He says and the doors shut.We talk to the lady and she gives us all visitors stickers and we head to the elevator. As the doors open to let us in, I start to get a bit antsy as to what might happen. Michael and Ashton climb into the elevator but my mind is too clustered that I don't move.
"Luke, you ok?" Ashton asks
I don't answer at first. "I promised him it'll be alright. What if I can't keep that?"
"It's alright, dude. Try not to think into it too much. Hopefully it will all be alright."
I nod and step inside as we head up to the 3rd floor. The doors open and we're greeted with almost silence. There's people but none of them are really talking.
"Over there" Ashton says pointing to Calum at the info desk asking for his family. We rush over to him as the man behind the desk is typing in the names to see what room they're in.
"I'm sorry sir, it looks like they're both still in surgery. The resident however would like to speak to you. Shall I call her?"
Calum is quiet for a second. A million things are probably going through his head and I don't blame him. "Yes. Thank you."
The man nods and dials. We head off to the side and all comfort Cal. I can't bear to see him like this. I can't stand seeing his zoned out eyes...his red, watery, zoned out eyes on the floor. Not looking any of us in the eye.
"Mr. Hood?" A lady in blue scrubs says.
"Yeah, that's me." Cal says and heads to the lady. "How are they? Are they ok? Who did this?"
"Mr. Hood, its important for you to know that we are and will continue to do everything we can."
His eyes start to water. I can tell that was not what he wanted to hear. He tries to say something but can't get it out. "How are they?"
"They're both still in surgery, both in critical condition. We don't have any updates about their conditions at the moment but as soon as we hear something, I'll be sure to tell you."
"Who....who did this."
"It was a man. He was pretty drunk. Considering how early it was, he probably got drunk last night and just kept drinking this morning. He was driving down El Camino with his daughter, we think to drop her off at school."
El Camino....that's the street right before our school. "Wait...did she attend Lockwood high?"
"As a matter of fact, yes. Her name is," she opens the folder she has in her arms. "Mary Sanchez. She's a Junior."
"I don't think I know her..." I say and Ash agrees.
"Wait...I think I have her for math. Never really talk to her though."
I look to Calum and his face is a stone. "She's in my Spanish class."
Calum
I remember when Mary told me about her dad. How he would have his 'episodes'. And how he would beat her and her mom.
"Is she ok?" I say.
"Yes. She's in stable condition. You could visit her while we wait to hear from the surgeons if you'd like. She's in room 317."
