Pineapple

Hey guys! This is a lot shorter than my other pieces of writing, but it's meant to be. It's meant to be short and sweet and. . . and now I want a pineapple.

Description: Kirsten asks Cameron to describe love.

Kirsten didn't have a lot of favorites; everyone knew that. It was a fact of life. No favorite color, movie, TV show, nothing. She just didn't have favorites.

Except, she had one. Her favorite fruit was a pineapple. It was sweet and tangy, with a smooth texture if you cut it correctly. As a little kid, the fruit had been too sweet - it gave Kirsten a headache. But as she grew it didn't bother her as much, and she found her first favorite - pineapples.

Now, she was sitting on Cameron's house, watching some chick-flick Camille had suggested. She couldn't even remember the name of the movie it was so boring. In her lap was a plate of pineapple chunks, Kirsten's only way to get through the movie entirely.

"Cameron, I don't get this."

The boyfriend in question looked up from his spot beside her. "Don't get what?"

"How the two people in this movie are 'in love,'" she said, using finger quotations. "The guy is an asshole."

Cameron let out a slight chuckle. "Stretch, none of us get how people in movies fall in love. They just do. The actors do what the script tells them to."

"I get that. But I don't get how anyone can fall in love with a jerk."

"Hey, I fell in love with an emotionless void. Can't be much worse."

Kirsten put her plate on the coffee table, then grabbed a pillow and hit Cameron. "You're not very helpful, Goodkin."

"I'm helpful and you know it." The brunette grabbed his laptop and went to Google. He typed in something and went through the search results. He closed his laptop. "'Love is like a pineapple, sweet and undefinable.' Piet Hein."

Kirsten looked to where her plate was sitting. "Oh."

"Stretch?"

"I think I get it now."
