"Jake!" I scream, walking out of my last class. His eyes grow wide as he sees me, and he tries to walk away fast. "Don't you freaking dare!"I grabbed ahold of his arm to stop him, and he turns around.
"Look, I'm really sorry-"
"Don't," I say obviously still mad. He just made me get detention! This can't look good on a college application. "You have got to be fucking kidding me. Because of you, I have detention. You couldn't have waited one more second for me?! For God sakes I was putting on my last shoe!"
"I will take you home after football practice?" He asks.
I shake my head. "No. I will find another ride. I can't believe you. Do you know how pissed mom is going to be?"
He rolls his eyes. "You better get to detention before you're late for that too." And with that he sprinted away, catching up with Zach.
I internally scream and begin to walk towards my first class.
"Hello Ms. Connors." Mr. Casey said.
I nodded my head in greeting and sat down at a desk in the back. I then pulled out my book and began reading. I have nothing better to do, I already finished my homework during our enrichment block. We have one every day, it's kind of like a study hall.
"I have one question for you," Mr. Casey said. I look up from my book, which was practically me telling him to proceed, "Why are you always running late?"
I sigh. "My brother is a jerk. He doesn't like to wait for me, and I don't have a car."
"So you aren't just trying to skip my class?"
"Mr.Casey, I don't skip classes. I do actually come to school to learn, unlike a lot of these other immature kids my age."
He chuckled slightly at that. "Alright, well I kind of want to get home to my children. Why don't you just go home too, I'm sorry for jumping to conclusions."
I smiled at him, and told him thank you. Ha, perks of being every teacher's favorite.
I climb out of the desk and head out, taking my phone out of my pocket. I quickly dial my mom's number.
"Hi sweetie!" She answered after a few rings.
"Hey! Could you come and pick me up? I need a ride."
"I thought you told me earlier you had detention? I am still at work. I told them I would take another shift, because you didn't need to get picked up."
Mom usually picks me up from school, since my brother practices every day. Yeah, I know. I'm a junior, with a license, who doesn't have a car. No, we are not poor, I just always have a ride to and from school, there isn't a need for a car. Mom actually has a really nice job that she loves. My father, but he travels for his job, meaning he isn't home much.
"Alright, I will find a ride." I told her, hanging up. I actually don't know who will come and pick me up. Jake and Zach are both at football practice. Those two are my only ride.
That only means one thing.
I groan, picking up my bag and throwing it over my shoulder. I begin to walk towards the set of bleachers in front of the football field and begin to watch their practice.
Now, I actually really like football. I just don't like staying and waiting for their practice to be over. They practice for a long time, sometimes until seven. Practice is just not as fun to watch as the actual game. And what really annoys me about their practice is the bratty cheerleaders.
