First days are always nerve-wracking. And I think anybody can agree with that.

But, then again, my nerves were a bit calmer, considering I had Allison and Arly by my side.

"I'm nervous," I blurted as the hydroloop sped toward the academy.

"Says the girl who can turn invisible," Arly said.

"You're nervous too."

"How can you tell?"

I rolled my eyes. "Your sarcasm intensifies when you're nervous."

Arly paused. "Ooh."

The hydroloop lurched to a stop, and then the door slid open. Alli was out first, gasping in a lungful of air. "Whew! Talk about claustrophobia."

"You're late."

These were the first words Donald Davenport ever said to us face to face as we walked out of the hydroloop, setting foot in the Bionic Academy in which we were attending.

"We excuseeee us," Arly, (who is the oldest), quipped jokingly. "Transportation is so slow. Science has come so far yet we still can't travel five-hundred-miles per hour."

Davenport squinted his eyes at her. "I guess I'll get on that, Speedy Gonzales."

"Does anybody else think it's weird that we're just, you know, hitting it off?" I asked.

"Nah," Arly disagreed. "So, Davenport, whatcha got planned for us?"

He handed us a clipboard. "There are complimentary sandwiches in the training room. Your dorm number is 208. You can decorate, but no stealing. I've already had a girdle disappear."

Alli quirked her eyebrow. "A what?"

"You heard me! And I am unashamed!" Davenport boasted proudly before walking away.

Arly stared after him. "Unbelievable."

"What?"

"He didn't even ask what our bionics are!"
