Nathan's POV
Jay placed both of his hands firmly on my shoulders, leaning down to my ear. "You ready for this, Sykes?" He almost whispered, glancing at the others.
We stood just outside the small convenience store, guns in hand. No one seemed to notice in the darkness. Either that, or they were just too busy to. It seemed like everyone was like that in the city.
"Good luck." Max patted me on the back as Jay backed away from my. I bit my lip and walked into the store, keeping an eye on the target. Fourty two year old Jeremy Powers. I hid the weapon under my baggy hoodie and he smiled, "May I help you?"
"Sure you can." I muttered, smirking and leaning against the counter. I swiftly pulled the gun out and hid it under the table's lip.
This wasn't just a random hit and run kill by a bunch of punks, it was much more than that. It was my initiation to be accepted into a gang. All of my family had been in this, so I really had no choice. Either I got in now, or I was killed so I couldn't tell anyone else.
In the city we lived in, two gangs were constantly fighting with each other. This man, Jeremy, just happened to be a big part of the enemy gang. He kept it secret to the public though, running his own small shop and carrying on throughout the day without getting too involved most times.
I didn't know much about him other than that, though. Except he was a guardian to an eighteen year old niece, Lena Clara.
"Alright, what can I get ya?" Jeremy turned around, re-stocking some shelves behind him. As he was distracted, I brought the gun up and shot him twice, the bullets hitting him in the back of the head. He fell to the ground, dead or barely alive.
I heard the others outside, "Run! Get out of there!" They shouted. I was shaking as I dropped the gun and ran, slamming the door as I exited.
An unsettling feeling appeared in my stomach as a young woman appeared downstairs, probably Lena. She ran to her uncle's body and began crying, frantically grabbing the nearest phone. Before she could dial anything, Lena looked up and noticed us.
"Shit, she's seen us!" Tom exclaimed, then the four started murmuring things amongst themselves. I looked back to Lena, who was frozen in place with both hands raised in the air. She probably thought we were going to attempt to shoot her too.
Siva cleared his throat, "Well, we can't just let her go tell everybody now. We'll get killed somehow." He commented. Everyone nodded before heading toward the door.
Lena's POV
Without hesitation, I bolted out the door. As I swung the door open, it smashed into something…or someone. I turned around and saw a tall tan man groan and hold his forehead.
He lifted his hand which was covered in blood that dribbled down from his hair line. I was about to apologize when I was the black gun in his hand glisten in the street light. I saw four other men, including the one that shot my uncle, emerge from behind him.
“Don’t let her get away!” The tan one yelled still cupping his forehead.
I took a couple steps back then sprinted the opposite way. I fled down the street, taking several looks behind me. I every time I checked behind me, they appeared closer and closer. The streets where completely empty, making it impossible to get any help. My heart raced, beating loudly in my chest, knowing that this might be my last night alive.
I took a short cut an alley and found a glass bottle near a ripped open trash bag. I shimmied around the corner and leaned against the brick wall. I listened as their footsteps grew closer and closer. The tan man was the first I saw creep out of the alley.
The glass bottle shimmered in the street light as I raised it and smashed it on his head. He screamed in pain and fell on his knees. I winced and noticed a piece of glass that cut my hand.
I held my wounded hand and saw the others come to his aid. I backed away, but he grabbed my ankle and dragged me toward him. I fell down on my back and gasped as my head smashed down.
The man sat up and pulled me closer. He grabbed my wrist and pinned them above me. His knees dug into the sides of my waist, trying to keep me from escaping. I yelped as he pressed more weight down. He held his gun to my head and wiped the blood off his forehead.
“I should just kill you now…” He slowly started pulling the trigger but stop when his name was called.
“Siva!” A bald man and black hair guy came from the alley. Siva stood up but still held his gun directly at me. I wheezed, feeling relief from his weight.
“You can’t kill her.” The bald one almost pleaded.
“Why not, Max?” Siva questioned.
“You’ll cause a war between us and them.”
Max glanced at me and then back at Siva. Siva chuckled. “I don’t know if you’ve been paying attention, but we’ve been at war with them for a long time now.”
The black hair one nodded, “Just not here. We are too exposed.”
“Fine, Tom. Have it your way.” Siva lowered his gun, giving me my chance. I crawled backwards and stood up, prepared to run. But instead I bumped into another figure. I blinked and saw the guy that killed my uncle. I felt someone grab my wrist from behind and twist it. I cried in pain, begging from him to let me go.
“Try to escape again and I’ll blow your head open.” Siva whispered in my ear. His voice was dead. He had no emotions, not even remorse for what happened to my uncle.
“Nath, where’s Jay?” Siva asked as he tugged me closer to him. A black van drove around the corner, and pulled up to us. The driver window rolled down, revealing a curly haired fellow that must've been Jay.
“Hurry, the cops are already at the scene.” Tom and Max opened the van door and climbed inside, following Nathan, who looked back at Siva and I.
Siva smiled at me. “Night, love.” Siva raised his gun in the air and swiftly hit me in the head. My vision darkened as I lost feeling in my body, and blacked out.
