I was getting ready with Kris and Gabbie when my mom knocked on my door. I had my hair in a towel and I had a robe on. I opened the door and looked at my mom. She smiled and said, "Here. I wore this to my winter formal." she handed me a gorgeous choker and a little gold ring. It was simple but very pretty. She smiled and made to walk away. I quickly wrapped her in a hug. She seemed shocked at first, but finally she wrapped her arms around me. "Thanks mom. I know I don't tell you a lot but I really do love you" I said quietly. She squeezed me tightly and let go. She smiled and walked away. I walked back to Kris and Gabbie. Kris was curling her hair and Gabbie was straightening hers. I quickly blow dried my hair and let it flow to my shoulders until I had my dress on. I put up my hair into a twisted sort of bun and wrapped a short black ribbon in it. I layered blue and green eyeshadow onto my eyelids. I swiped on a couple of coats of mascara. I put on deep purple lipstick and started putting on my fake nails. They were long stiletto, matte black nails.

Zach was picking the three of us up and Kris was struggling with putting her platforms on. The laces weren't coming undone so I quickly and carefully used my nails to undo the knot in her laces and she slipped them on, tying them quickly. I looked outside and somehow in the middle of December, we were having a thunder storm. I grimaced and grabbed a big umbrella. Zach knocked on the door rapidly. I ran as fast as I could in my stilettos. He had an umbrella in hand and was trying to keep it from blowing away. Thankfully he wasn't very wet. He took us to the car one by one, making sure we were getting the door shut before going back to the house. Gabbie was the last one to the car. The drive was hectic and fairly terrifying. We finally got to school and Zach dropped us off at where there were guys helping girls to the doors. Christopher came up to my side and helped me into the building. I was waiting inside with Gabbie and Kris when Zach walked in. He smiled and we walked into the gymnasium. Everything was decorated very elegantly. The tables for the banquet part of our formal were nicely set with white tablecloths and white rose petals. Little snowflakes were strewn throughout the room. White glitter floated elegantly down from the ceiling. Zach took my hand in his and led me to a table. Kris and Gabbie strolled behind us, laughing lightly. I heard Gabbie gasp and I turned to see what was wrong. Charlotte was glaring at me and I knew why. We were both wearing the same dress but I looked better in it. I flashed a smirk and saw her look disgusted. She flipped her poorly done hair and went back to talking to her new boyfriend Ethan. It was a shame he had to go through the pain of hearing her moan on and on about how much better I looked in the dress and how much she hated my guts. Just because I'm dating Zach.

*Around 2 hours later*

"And the Formal Queen is," the principal announced, "Madeline Smith." the whole student body cheered, except for the jealous Charlotte. She just glared at me up on the makeshift stage. "The Formal King is, Zachary Wood" said my principal. I grinned as Zach walked up onstage. "The runner up for formal queen was Kristine Morgenstern and the runner up for formal king was Ethan Lewis." My principal announced to the dwindling student body. There were cheers of approval. What made me smile was seeing Charlotte's face. Her boyfriend was the runner up with her arch-enemy's best friend. She looked quite disgusted. I also realized she had tears in her eyes. I wonder why.

Kris was leaning against a table, cool as ever, talking to Ethan. She was laughing lightly. Charlotte looked highly upset. I walked over to Kris and she smiled at me. "Hey Kris. Ethan. Can I talk to you for a minute Kris?" I asked politely. She nodded and I pulled her aside. "Do you know what happened with Charlotte?" I asked. She smiled and said, "Yea. Ethan just dumped her. She is now officially here without friends or a date." I Gave her an incredulous look and she chuckled. "Actually Ethan just asked me out. I said yes obviously. Hey I have to go. But I'll come over tomorrow and you and I can talk about guys and their cluelessness." she said. I nodded and she walked back to Ethan. I glanced around for Zach and saw Charlotte, very strongly arguing with him. I walked over to where I could hear them. "It's not my fault you thought I was cheating on you!" I heard Charlotte say. Zach scoffed and said, "Oh I'm sorry I don't believe I ever thought it. I knew it. I saw you with Nathan at that restaurant making googly eyes at each other." I decided maybe now was a time to come looking for Zach. I walked aimlessly towards Zach, looking around. I feigned finding him and walking up to him, lacing my fingers in his. He didn't seem to notice and kept arguing with Charlotte. I finally was getting bored and stabbed him in the shoulder with my nail. He jumped and looked down at me. I raised an eyebrow and gave him a bored look. He glared for a split second at Charlotte and we went home. Gabbie was being taken home by Chris and Zach was quiet the whole drive. I didn't question it since I had basically been there the whole time. When he got me to my house I kissed him on the cheek and went inside. One of the best nights ever.
