'Everyone looks so happy...' You thought, your tired (e/c) orbs scanning the chaotic group of countries around you. But for once they weren't fighting, they were laughing and smiling. But it Christmas Eve, and everyone was excited for Christmas. Well, not everyone...
You sighed, looking down to stare at the empty cup in your hand. 'Everyone except me...' You finished when you saw a vivid image of yourself in the bottom.
You didn't see yourself at all though, you saw someone you rarely saw, only around this time of the year. Not wanting to see it anymore, you crushed the cup for the image to disappear.
You sighed, feeling the weight of fatigue push down on your shoulders.A hand suddenly fell on your shoulder, making you jolt in surprise. "Hey _____, you okay?" Someone asked, you recognizing the voice immediately. You forced a smile on your face, looking over your shoulder to find Summer standing above you.
"Yeah, I'm fine." You answered, your face beginning to hurt from smiling too hard. The German stared down at you, as if seeing straight through your lie.
But a few moments later she smiled, giving a cheerful laugh. "Alright, if you say so. Well, Merry Christmas and enjoy the party." She grinned before walking away. You watched until she disappeared in the crowd of countries, finally letting your smile drop. "Easy for you to say..." You muttered, getting up from your spot on the couch. Noticing a clear path to the patio, you began shuffling over to the patio door.
Making sure no one was watching you, you slipped outside, silently sliding the door closed behind you. Once outside, you let out a breath of air, watching as it turned to steam infront of your face.Walking over to the railing, you gazed up at the sky. It was clear night, not a cloud in sight. Each star twinkling brightly, trying to outshine one another. It was beautiful, undoubtedly beautiful.
But for you, it reminded you of your parents. It was a night like this four years ago, near Christmas. you lost your parents in a car crash. Ever since that night, you never liked Christmas anymore. And when ever the holiday was near, you would shut down, trying to shut the world out.
No, you weren't a country. You were just a friend of Summer's, who you found out by accident, was a country. At first, you thought it was crazy. Until you met the other countries. And ever since that day, your life has been... Interesting. But right now, you just wanted to be left alone.
Looking up you noticed that two stars were shinning brighter than the rest, a sad smile swiping across your lips. "Hey Mom, Dad, I see your still watching over me..." You said quietly, feeling a strange pricking sensation in the back of your eyes. You ignored it.
Sighing, you leaned against the railing, averting your eyes to the ground. "You know, sometimes I wish you guys were still here..." You muttered, running a hand through your (h/c) hair.
You felt your chest begin to tighten, finding it hard to breath, and your eyes becoming more irritated. Feeling something wet slid down your cheek, you wiped it away and felt your fingertips become wet.'Huh?' You looked down, seeing your fingertips glistening in the dim light from the stars. You shook your head, feeling the same wet substance slip down your cheek again. You huffed out in annoyance.
'Damnit! Come on _____, don't cry! You're stronger than that!' You said to yourself, trying your best to keep from crying. But they didn't seem to stop, only seeming to fall faster, now using the sleeve of your (f/c) jacket to soak up the tears.
"Aw, who am I kidding! I'm not strong at all!" You yelled out in frustration, not caring if anyone heard you. Turning back to the dark sky, you found the two bright stars and sniffled.
"It should have been me that night, not you guys..." You whispered, closed your eyes and lowering your head. "I have no reason to live... No one wants me around, no one... Would care about me if I disappeared..." You muttered, feeling your heart clench in your chest.
You turning away from the stars, letting yourself slowly sink to the ground. Pulling your knees into your chest, you buried your face in your arms. Continuing to cry soft, you didn't notice the door of the patio slowly begin to open...
