It was the day of the raven feathered boy's knighthood ceremony. The pale face of the raven, Clove, hadn't slept a wink in the night before. As he walked across the creaky drawbridge, he couldn't help but feel like something a lot bigger than just becoming knights was going to happen to them today. He only heard ringing in his ears as the trumpets blared a fanfare from across the path. This always happened when he was excited, He could tell his deer friend was too, and, even the ram who masked it behind a tough face. As usual, the one from the moon was spacing off and not really paying attention, but he was probably excited too.
"Jax," The king's voice boomed simultaneously with authority and respect. The ram, kneeling on one knee, took the wide, thin swords that were rather short in length and were placed in his calloused hands. He lifted his head, eyes so brown they were almost orange lifting up in a glance of respect to the king. The king spoke quietly to him as he gently wiped his thumb against the hazelnut surface of his forehead. "Thank you in advance, for your service. You have proven yourself worthy of knighthood, and it shows. Carry these swords on your back, not as a weight, but as an honour." Jax closed his eyes as put the swords in the dual sheaths on his back and stood, bowing before opening them and positioning himself a few feet to the left of the king.
Clove was next in line. The tiny feathers on his cheeks bristled with anticipation. The ringing in his ear was only worsening, he couldn't hear when the king said his name, but he saw it. He kneeled, head bowed and hands out, as Jax had done before. Jax stood with his arms arms crossed. He wasn't quite sure how he felt about the others yet. Clove seemed okay, had a bit of trouble talking to girls though. Dyph was annoyingly clueless, and Cery told way too many lame jokes. They'd all trained in their respective small kingdoms, with the other knights of that kingdom. They were experimentally chosen to create a "well balanced" team to do work for any king. This was the central kingdom of their world. They were gathered here today to officially become the knights of the United Biome. He was pretty certain that the only reason he was here was because he was a weapons master. He had a lot of respect for this particular king though, even if he preferred to stay away from others, and didn't question him
The king gave Clove a sword that seemed ordinary, but it had a sort of mystic aura to it. The ringing got louder, in a way Clove hadn't experienced before. Was this really just his ears ringing? No one else in the crowded place was reacting to it. He winced in pain and glanced at the king with a smile. The king opened his mouth to speak, but then suddenly, a loud crash was heard from behind them.
Everyone in the room faced it. Jax and Clove turned with their swords already out, Jax was certainly ready for some action. "Dyph! Cery! At the ready!" came a shout from both Clove and the king. Clove and the king shared a delighted expression in the chaos of the crowd rushing out.
The king chuckled out, "You really are a leader. Take good care of them." Clove nodded as Dyph shot over a big, hairy boar with a roped arrow, which landed on the other side of the beast. Dyph landed with their bow in one hand, their other holding balance as they kneeled with the opposing knee. The end of the rope was in the air, but not for long, as Cery grabbed it on his way down, pulling the rope around its back and chest, tying this end back to the arrow. Dyph held up a snow white hand to them, their fingers glowing a slight orange to signify a halting.

Jax examined the neck of the boar, who on all fours stood slightly above the average man, but seeing as Jax had a significantly lower height than most, he had to reach up significantly higher to check for the collar. There was a noted tucked in the rope tied around its thick neck prior to it's clumsy arrival.
"If you want your precious princess back, take this map. Follow these steps to show you the way, or you could meet your grave. Go to where your story begins."

It then showed a drawing leading out of the castle, over a bridge, and across another scape of land, to a small building which stood upon a hill, and held a sign reading  "Mlak" on it.

Mlak? Jax thought. He was also thinking that this map was fairly poorly drawn, but it got the idea across so it didn't matter too much. Mlak sounded oddly familiar though. Like something Dyph or Cery had mentioned before but he didn't really listen to. In fact it was probably exactly that.
          "Hey, Deer boy"
Cery approached him, lightly chuckling at what he was about to say. "Yes, mother?"
"Stop it with the stupid jokes, have more respect for your mother than that. What's Mlak?"
"I think Dyph mentioned it once. A scientist of some sort I believe."
Dyph chimed in, lackadaisically and almost monotone, "He's the human that would be considered fatherly in respect to my being. He obtains moon rocks for me to consume."
Jax knew he'd have to get used to the alien's ways of speaking, and... the fact that he ate moon rocks, so he bore with it. "So you know how to get there then, right?"
Dyph nodded nonchalantly and Clove smiled.
Clove stood in front of them. "Let's be on our way then! One step closer to saving the princess!"
