Fireside (Rochu)

Fierce winds howled outside, threatening to uproot the trees at any moment. This means nothing to me. After all, this is completely normal. It is mid-winter here in Russia. My country is known for its harsh winters.

"Do you think Yao is okay big brother?"

"I'm sure he'll be fine in his own house."

I heard a small sigh from one of my sisters.

"Ivan, I thought that he was coming here for the winter this year."

"He was?"

"Yes big brother. Did you not see it on the calendar?"

"But that means..."

Abandoning all thoughts of warmth and comfort, I jumped up and ran to the door, only pausing to grab my boots and coat. Ignoring the cries of my sisters, I threw myself into the outside world.

Knee deep in snow. Perfect.

Wading onward, I started searching for Yao.

(This part may be confusing. I'm sorry if it is, I can fix it if you would like me to.)

It's easier for us nations you see. We can think of a certain person and locate them if they are within our borders. The stronger your bond is with someone, the easier it is to find them. If you love them, you can find them very easily.

I'm not saying that I love Yao! Nope nope nope. Anyway, back to the task at hand. I have to find him before he freezes to death. I don't want another death planted on me.

-Time skip-

He's in Moscow. Or at least very nearby. He's not moving. So, I will move to him. I am not far now as my house is quite close to the capital. The capital is my heart after all.

I can sense him getting weaker.

I can also sense that I am getting closer. I can now sense that I am very close to him. Pin-pointing his location, I run until I drop to the ground in confusion. He should be here. But he's not. Where can he be?

He's underneath the snow.

I can't risk hurting him, so I'll have to dig with my hands. So I begin. Carefully of course. He's not too far under, but far enough.

-Time skip-

I found him! Bought him home to. I asked my sisters Natalia and Yekaterina to fetch the thickest blankets possible whilst I set him down upon a sofa wrapped in my coat. We busied ourselves to make him comfortable and warm. Now, we can only wait and see the outcome.

-Time skip about a week-

He's awake! Just in time for Christmas too. Rather confused as to where he was but once we'd explained it to him he was more than happy to settle back down.

"Ivan!"

"Yes Yao?"

"You've been in there for half an hour..."

Looking at the clock, I noticed that he was in fact correct. Picking up our thankfully still warm hot chocolates, I made my way back to the front room where he sat. Smiling, I noticed, that he was satt on the window seats wrapped up in blankets, watching the snow fall around the house.

"You know, it's not going to stop for awhile."

"It's pretty though."

"Never gets old. However, this hot chocolate does. Want to come and sit by the fire and warm up a bit more?"

Setting the mugs down on the table, I walked over to him and picked him up, blankets and all. Sitting down, I felt a small pair of arms wrap the blankets around me before clasping one of the mugs I'd once again picked up from the table. Smiling, I wrapped my arm around him.

I don't love him. Nope. Nope.

Maybe.

-Time skip and change of POV to Ukraine-

"Big brother?"

No response. Why is he not answering? He and Yao had better not be... No. I doubt it. Ivan is too innocent. He's the sort of person who'd have a pillow fight if anyone ever stayed in his room overnight.

"Yekaterina... sister?"

"Yes Natalia?"

"Do you think they're in the front room?"

Mentally facepalming, I grabbed hold of her hand and led the way. The lights are on. The fire is burning, admittedly now just embers. Two mugs are resting on the table. In front of the fire place... a bundle of blankets? Moving closer, I noticed two people wrapped up together.

Ivan and Yao.

"So cute!"
