"Congratulations Samuel. You're finally an officer" the Sheriff gave me my uniform and badge.
"You'll get the rest after" he whispered as I walked off.
"I just want to give out a few awards and such" Sheriff Baylor said.
"These past few months, teaching and training these men and women has been the best experience of my life. They have grown on me and reminded me of why police work is so important to me. I love these punks" he joked, "I'm glad to say they all graduated and proven why they deserve a spot on the force" he smiled at the crowd.
"Graduating at the top of our class we have Samuel Wilkinson, or should I say officer Wilkinson" he laughed.
I was, without a doubt, Sheriff Baylor's favorite, he always expressed it and I got bonus points because of him.
I stood up and walked to him, taking the metal.
"Thank you" I said into the mic.
I looked out over the crowd looking for my family and my soon-to-be wife but my eyes came to her.
She was looking straight ahead, not really paying attention.
Just staring off, caught in a day dream.
Her caramel colored skin and her brown hair.
I couldn't make out the color of her eyes but I knew they'd be equally as beautiful as her.
Sheriff Baylor cleared his throat and I shook my head.
"Uh, I want to thank my family for supporting me and my mom and dad for keeping me out of trouble all these years" I smiled before going to sit back down.
I found her in the crowd again, smiling down at her phone.
Who is she?
+
"Our graduates of 2015!" They yelled over the mic as we all cheered and hugged one another."Wilkinson! My house at seven, bring your family" I smiled and nodded as I seen the girl again.
A red summer dress, covered her tall, glorious body and brown sandals on her pedicured feet.
She had a purse strapped around her shoulder, stopping at her hip.
She walked right passed me, her perfume enchanting me, she hugged...Sheriff Baylor?
"You did good dad" she smiled as he kissed her. Her teeth were a bright white and were aligned straight at the top, with the exception of one at the bottom.
Perfectly imperfect.
"Wilk, I don't think you've met my wife or my daughter. Sam this is my wife Denise and my daughter Brandy" His wife gave me a hug, I was hoping Brandy would too but she stuck her hand out.
I finally seen her eyes, brown, they were beautiful nonetheless.I took her soft delicate hand into mine and I was gonna bring it up to my lips but Baylor cleared his throat, his daughter blushed and pulled her hand back slowly.
"Watch it Wilk" he laughed "Its okay Baylor, I have a fiancé" I cooed.
His daughter was now focused on her phone and taking a call.
"Dad, I have to take this" she announced.
"Who is it?" He mouthed, "Coaches from UCLA" she responded before answering.
"What does she play?" I asked, trying to sound as casual as I could.
"She is into sports, she's getting scouted for softball but for music as well" he boasted proudly.
"A full ride scholarship from Berkeley, but I went to UCLA so she's choosing to go there as well"
Sheriff Baylor was a strict man, I feel like it wasn't his daughters choice to go to UCLA.
"Music?" I encouraged him to continue, wanting to know more about his wondrous daughter.
"Viola, she's into orchestra"
He was about to continue but my family came up.
"Honey, congrats!" My fiancé kissed my cheek as my mom and dad came around.
"Dave, Lori, how are you guys?" Baylor asked, hugging my dad and kissing my moms cheek.
"Good and you John?" My dad laughed.
He and my dad are friends, close friends.
My mom started talking to Lori and Stassie pulled me to the side.
"I'm so glad you're finished! I've missed you" she kissed my lips and brought her hands into my hair
(Which is still brown here)
"Baby, not here. And Baylor invited us all over for dinner" I pulled away, smiling down at her.
I haven't really proposed to her or even talked to her about marriage yet.
My mom wants me to get married because this is this longest I've been with a girl; a year and a half.
"Tell them you can't go, I missed you" she pouted and batted her eyelashes at me.
That used to be so cute to me, but I guess it wore off.
We've been going through a rough patch but all normal couples do.
"I can't baby, I promised"
"Alright but, I can't go" she shrugged.
"What? Why?" I whined
"You're twenty three for gods sake Sam, don't whine. I promised Kylie we'd go out tonight" she pecked my lips one last time before walking off.
"I'll see you at home" she called out.
Brushing her off, I thought about dinner.
I'm looking forward to it.
