Chapter 18: Finally Home

GPS: Turn left, than take the highway. I follow the directions. I get on the highway and I see a sign that says: "Welcome to Pittsburgh!"

"Guys, we're home!" I yell.

"Finally!" Sid says.

"Are we home yet?" James asks.

"Yes James." I say.

"Finally!" James says as he closes the coloring book.

"Are you done coloring that monkey?" I ask as I pull down the road to my house.

"Yes!"

"Are you really done?"

"YES!" I smile as I pull into the driveway of my house. I park the car and run into the house. I run straight to my room and Sid and James run after me. I look around and see that nothing is moved or broken, but I find a note.

I will find you. You can't hide from me Katlin. You will pay for what you did to Ovechkin.

I run out to Sidney and James with the note in my hand.

"Kate, what's wrong?" Sid asks.

"Look." I say as I hand him the note. When he finishes reading it he hands it to James.

"Kate, don't worry he will not hurt you." James says.

"I'm not scared of Jay, are you kidding me?" I laugh. Just than I hear a knock at the door. I walk over and open it. Jordan, and Max run in.

"Are you guys ok?" Max asks as he hugs me.

"We are fine. Don't worry Max." I say as I hug him.

"It would have been nice if you called and told us you guys were kidnapped by Chara and Ovechkin." Jordan says as he hugs me.

"I'm sorry. But look what Ovechkin left in my bedroom." I say as I hand Jordan the note.

"That little..." Jordan starts but Max cuts him off.

"Dude let me see." Max says as he looks at the note. 

"Guys, don't worry nothing is going to happen to me." I say I hug them. "Would you look at the time we have practice soon." I say as I run  into my bedroom. Sidney follows me and so does Jordan, Max, and James. I close and lock the door. Sidney knocks on the door.

"Kate, please open up." Sid says. I walk over to the door and let Jordan, James and Max in but not Sid. "Really Kate?" I open the door for him and he walks in. 

"OMG! Kate you must have 50 trophies!" Max says. "Where are these from?"

"Showing. I win a lot." I say with a smile.

"Is this Hall Of Fame?" Sidney asks as he points to a picture of Fame with a Grand Champion ribbon hanging from her bridle.

"Ya." I say. "That picture was given to me from the judge because she is a huge Penguins fan and when she found out I was playing for you guys she freaked out."

"That's so nice, it's a beautiful picture." Max says.

"Thanks."

"Is Fame tall?" Jordan asks.

"Yes very...about 18 hands(1 hand= 4 inches). She is really sweet. She would never hurt a fly." I say as tears form in my eyes. The guys continue to look around at my ribbons and trophies.

"Hey Kate, where is this trophy from?" James asks as he points a cup.

"Oh, that was from the last Grand Prix I ever won before the accident."

Flashback:   

 I was riding my one friend's horse in a show. We were going up to the last jump of our round and the time to beat was 45.432 seconds. I looked up at the timer and I knew if I didn't push for a long spot we would end up second and I needed the points to move on to the state competition. So I did. I asked for a bigger stride and just as I was about to take off, someone's phone went off and scared the crap out of my horse. He took off, ran right through the jump. I tried to hold on and collect him back up but he was running and bucking so badly that he fell on top of me. He got up and ran to the in gate but I didn't move. I was in total shock. I thought I was dead. So many people ran out to me, one being my best friend who owned the horse I was ridding. All she kept saying is I'm sorry I'm sorry. after about five minuets of just laying there I got up. I thought I was ok. I felt some pain but most of it was coming from my left arm. I pulled my jacket sleeve up and there was blood every where. everyone started to freak out. I didn't think it was that bad. But they said I had to go and get it looked at.

End of Flashback

Tears form in my eyes. I run over to Sid. "I miss my life. I miss my horses, my farm, my house, and my friends." I cry into his shirt.

"I know Kate, it's ok. Just remember two more weeks till World Finals." Sid says as he hugs me.

"You're right." I say as I kiss him on the cheek. "We should really get ready for practice." I say as I run into the bathroom.
