One minute I'm running up to a ghost, attempting to defeat it. Another minute and I'm being turned into wood. The next thing I know, Pacifica is standing by the lever, the townsfolk are going nuts in the ballroom, and the ghost chaos has vanished.
"Pacifica," the ghost says,"you're not like the other Northwests. I feel... lumber justice..." He disappears out of thin air, and the axe implanted in his skull falls to the floor.
Pacifica notices I've regained consciousness and dashes over."Mabel!" She runs into me and hugs me like no one is watching. And really, no one is. Everyone is enjoying themselves, eating food and dancing and chatting happily.
I wrap my arms around her waist and pull her in close.
"I can't believe I did it. I defeated the ghost," she says."I disobeyed parents. I rebelled right in front of them! It felt good. It felt great!"
"I knew you could do it. You're so brave," I tell her.
"Thanks," she blushes.
I feel myself blush as well. I peck her cheek.
"Wait, my parents could be around."
"Oh yeah. Would you like to dance?" I ask in a super fancy-schmancy voice.
"Oh, of course," Pacifica plays along.
Now we're skipping around the entire ballroom laughing and dancing, not caring about anyone else there. Like it's just us.
So this is what love feels like.
