"Hey," Brandon smiled as I arrived at my locker, where he was waiting.

"Hi," I gave him a small smile. "How are you feeling?" I asked, realizing I had forgotten to call him last night.

"Oh I'm fine. Just a nasty hangover, that's all. No big deal," he answered nonchalantly.

"Oh that's good," I took a deep breath, "Brandon listen..About the other night," I started, but was cut off when he put his hands in the air silencing me.

"Jaz don't worry. I know where this is going, I talked to Pet yesterday. I want you to know that we've been so close for almost our entire lives, I can't help but feel like a protective brother. I'm not attracted to you in that way either," he stated all at once and took me by surprise.

"Well I guess that was a lot easier than I thought it would be," I breathed a sigh of relief. Brandon smiled, and as soon as I was finished at my locker we walked to science together.

Dan was sitting at his desk writing something on a stack of papers, not even paying attention to our arrival. Brandon and I took our seats and waited for the remaking students to file in.

When the late bell finally rang, Dan got up and shut the door before walking back to the center of the room and facing us. He was wearing a purple shirt with a light blue tie and
dark grey dress pants. He had a little scruff growing and his hair looked as if he lazily ran a gel-filled hand though the front, it stuck up in different directions. I had to admit, he looked hot. He caught my eye for a split second before beginning the class.

"Good morning everyone. I've just finished grading your quizzes from Friday and your labs from all of last week." With this, he grabbed the rather large stack of papers and started handing them back.

"I must say, I am impressed with most of you. I know a quiz on the first week of school is a jerk thing to do, but this is AP Chem and I do expect a little more work out of you guys." He handed Brandon a few papers and moved on to the next person.

"Oh yea, triple A's," Brandon held his papers up for me to see. I smiled and rolled my eyes, wanting to see what I had gotten. A few minutes later, I was the last to receive my work back. Dan placed a hand on my back while setting the papers in front of me, pulling it off as if he was trying to squeeze between my chair and the table behind us. I smiled to myself, as and I looked though everything. Two A's and an A+.

"Ha, I got an A+," I teased to Brandon. He put on a fake pout, and our conversation was ended when Dan started speaking from the front of the room.

"Okay, please take out your notebooks. We've got a lesson today and then a lab tomorrow," He turned the projector on and shut the lights off.

Dan started the lesson and our pens started moving across our notebooks. He was a great teacher. He explained everything in detail, making sure that everyone understood before moving on. He also made a few jokes (that were actually funny) here and there which kept us all focused.

The bell finally rang and everyone started packing up.

"No homework. Have a good day everyone" Dan dismissed us and turned the lights back on. Brandon and I were the last ones out since we sat in the back, and I followed him to the door.

"See you guys tomorrow," Dan said as we passed him and left his classroom. I knew he had not asked me to stay after because that would be the 3rd time in just over a week. We needed no extra attention on us. Brandon and I walked to Spanish and took our seats right as the bell rang. Señorita Gomez told me that I needed to do my presentation since I had been "absent" yesterday. I held laughter back and gave my presentation on the origin of Mariachi.
