Chapter 2: (Character Introductions)

(Woohoo! Second chapter! Most of this chapter will be about getting familiar with the other characters, so yeah, it's kind of a little side trip! But the main story will continue from the next chapter onwards, don't worry! Again, I don't own the characters or "The Red Room". ^o^ --------------~SilverDiamonde07~)

Naruto walked into the cafeteria, feeling much more energized. He had slept for the entire duration of first period, and was surprised that his teacher hadn't woken him up. He later found out that Mr. Hatake, his form teacher, had already known about Naruto's ordeal from the previous night, due to his close connections with the police captain, and had decided not to disturb Naruto as he slept. But he still expected Naruto to make up for it, to which he promised.

He ordered his usual meal: A big bowl of miso ramen. After collecting his meal, he strolled into the dining area and looked around him.

At one table he saw his good friend, Kiba Inuzuka. The boy had red fang shaped tattoos on his cheeks, and a shaggy mop of brown hair. He was feeding his dog, Akamaru, some food under the table. Naruto hid a grin. How his dog crazy friend had managed to sneak the big ball of fur into the CAFERTERIA of all places was beyond him! Kiba saw him and gave him a quick wave, which the blond returned.

Sitting next to him was Hinata Hyuuga, Neji's cousin. Her dark blue hair ran down her back, and straight bangs were framing her pretty pale face. The girl's large pale eyes were drooping slightly. She had managed a small smile as she watched Kiba and his antics. Her plate of food was in front of her, clearly untouched. Naruto felt a sudden pang in his heart. How terrible it must have been for her, when she was informed that her beloved cousin was found dead early that morning... But the girl was obviously trying her best to put on a brave face, and Naruto admired her for that. Upon noticing Naruto, she blushed a little and gave him a weak smile. The blond smiled back, his heart filled with empathy for her.

His gaze shifted to the other boy sitting at the table. Shino Aburame. He was a mysterious guy, wearing a pair of sunglasses even indoors! No one had ever seen him take them off. He has an affinity for bugs and creepy crawlies, and even at that moment he was intensely inspecting a beetle. He was so engrossed in examining the creature that he seemed to be detached from everything else. Naruto raised an eyebrow. How Shino got hold of it, he had no idea. He didn't really want to know either.

Sitting at a table further away, near one of the windows, were some other classmates.

One was a boy with brown hair pulled up into a spiky ponytail, similar to that of a pineapple. He was the resident genius, Shikamaru Nara. He was staring out the cafeteria window at the sky with a very bored expression on his face. Despite his brains and intelligence, he was very lazy. He was clearly trying his best to ignore the commotion that was happening at his table.

Next to him was his friend, Chouji Akamura. He was a plump guy, with a lighter shade of brown hair in a shaggy hairstyle. His parents owned a couple of restaurants in the area. The dude was gorging himself senseless with plate after plate of food. He was sensitive about his appearance, and was prone to throwing a massive fit if anyone dared to comment.

Across Chouji sat a pretty blonde girl. Her long hair was pulled into a high ponytail, with a portion of it escaping and falling into her face, covering her right eye. Her name was Ino Yamanaka, and her parents owned a very successful florist business. At the moment she was yelling at Chouji, waving her arms around animatedly, her blue eyes blazing. She clearly worried about Chouji's health, and was trying to convince him that he was overeating. Chouji, of course, ignored her and continued munching away.

Naruto chuckled. Some things would never change, no matter how much time passes. At last, his gaze settled on a booth in a corner of the cafeteria.
