Fionna's POV
If nervousness was measured in water, monsoon season would be right around the corner. My stomach is doing somersaults and twists, and no, it's not the tuna fish sandwich I had earlier.
In a little more than an hour Cake and I will be going to the event held at the Candy Kingdom.
My heart is drumming inside of my ribcage, my palms are sweaty and my fingers twitch every snippet of a second. I can't help but jitter at the fact that the days had gone by like seconds, seconds like eyes blinking, eyes blinking like nothing had happened and I had gone from one moment to right now.
I mindlessly climb up to the bathroom upstairs to find Cake brushing out her fur.
"Hey, hon, ready to put on the dress?" she asked, setting down the hair brush onto the sink's counter.
"Yeah, I guess." I answered, squeezing the tube of toothpaste onto the small bush in my hand.
"Okay, I'll go lay it out on your bed." she said while walking out of our bathroom.
I continued brushing my teeth in silence while looking blankly at the other person in the mirror.
'Do I really look that anxious?' I thought.
There were vague dark circles under my eyes and I looked so uneven.'This couldn't be me, I'm always ready for anything. How could this be me?! What if....what if Cake noticed?' Anxiety bit at the back of my head as I finished up brushing my teeth and healing the scar on my face with cyclops tears.
I gave my nervous face one last look before exiting the bathroom to find Cake on my bed holding up the dress she had made for me.
"You ready now?" she asked, seeming excited to put the dress on me. I nodded and smiled lightly.
After 20 excruciating minutes of pulling and tying ribbon, the dress was officially on me. I ran my hand across the fabric, admiring how nice it felt on the tips of my fingers.
'Fit for a princess.' I thought.
'Or a queen.' that sweetly venomous voice inside of my brain snickered. I ignored its words of torment and continued stroking the silk of the dress.
The soft, silky material had me so mesmerized that I had barely noticed the ears of my hat being tugged.
I swatted away at the air, seeing arms retracting. "I want to keep my hat on!" I exclaimed, sounding rather childish.
I only received a few seconds of blank staring before she gave an exaggerated sigh of defeat.
"Ok, ok, but I'm still gonna curl your bangs." she said, making it known that she had won in a way.
She had gotten right to work on my hair, brushing and tugging and twisting. I almost thought that the hairspray alone would poison me.
"Perfect!" shd said. I tried getting up from the chair which I was sitting in, but she pushed me back down into it.
"Um?" I uttered, confused. "I thought you were done."
"Just one more thing and then you'll be finished." she explained.
That's when I saw it. The makeup bag being opened up.My attempt at making a break for the door and running for my life had failed when she tied me down to the chair with extended limbs. My arms, tied to the chair's arms, with Cake's arms...just great.
"Cake, wait! Please no! I'll...I'll pay you! Cold hard cash! Catnip, kitty litter, name your price! Just no makeup, please glob, no!"
"It's just a little bit, there are bags under your eyes, you don't want those showing, do you?" she asked, making a point.
