"Haha! You have no parents!" They yelled and mocked as they chased after me down the barren, foreign street. "You have nothing to look forward to in life! Just go kill yourself, you worthless piece of shit!" Tears streamed down my face and stung my eyes as I kept running. My eyesight began to blur from the constant tears, but I kept running. I had to keep running. I tripped over something and fell roughly onto my face in the concrete. I was in too much pain to lift my head, but I heard their footsteps pound closer and closer to me. This is it, I'm done for. Tears began rushing down my scraped up face.

All of a sudden, I heard a car screech, it began to swerve off course, and slammed into something. I lifted my head slowly and carefully, trying not to make it throb. I shakily stood up, and looked around. There was a car that collided with a tree nearby. I didn't see the guys anywhere, though. Maybe they freaked out and ran away.

I limped over to the car and peered in the window, the lone driver was slouched to his side, and I could barely make out a bloody gash on the side of his head. I gasped, and limped quickly to the other side of the car so I could open it. I pulled as hard as I could, to no avail. The door must have been locked. Thinking quickly, I grabbed a rock and smashed his window open. I unlocked it and dragged his body out into the plush grass.

"Sir?" I called out. After a few moments with no response, I knelt down to his level, and checked for a pulse. He was still alive. I ripped part of my dirtied shirt off and tied it tightly to his head, to try and stop the bleeding. I decided to give him CPR to see if that would help. I pumped his chest, then gave him mouth to mouth. Come on..... I pumped his chest a few more times, then saw his eyes flicker. "Sir? Sir!" I called out to him again. "Are you alright?"

"Thank you.... Ma'am...." He mumbled huskily. I helped him sit up and leaned him against his car. "Were you.... the one in the street?"

"Yes, I am so sorry." I apologized.

"Why...?" He asked.

"I was running, and I tripped." I stated simply. He doesn't need to know every detail.

"Who were you running from?" He asked again. My eyes widened as I cocked my head to the side. How did he know I was running from someone?

"Excuse me, sir, but how did you know I was running from someone?" I asked honestly.

He managed to chuckle light-heartedly, and say, "I wasn't born yesterday. I can tell when someone's in trouble, or being bullied," I blushed and looked at the ground. "What's your name, darling?"

"Clarity."

"Clarity, thank you for saving my life. Here, take this." He shakily reached into his pocket, placed something in my palm, and covered it with his hand. "This can either grant your one desired wish, or can be the key to your fate, which I can tell is something extraordinary. Choose wisely." Then he removed his hand, and curled my fingers to close over the gift he gave me. He got up slowly, just as I began to hear sirens blaring nearby. "Oh yeah, and Clarity," I looked up at him, straining to hear him through the sirens, "I think I ran into the person who was chasing you." I looked at him confusedly. Why would he mention that now? Why would he mention that ever?

I quickly got up, shoved the gift into my pocket without looking at it, and limped away, so the police wouldn't see me.
