2 Years Later
I dove into the cold water feeling my sleepy skin finally awaken. The water seeped under my cap getting my dry curls wet. My goggles where slightly darkened so the bright turquoise water around me was slightly emerald. My fingers laced through the water as I swam freestyle across the large pool. I flipped bubbled racing all around me as I streamlined off the wall. I heard the familiar whistle of my coach as I reached the end wall. My American teammates looked up at him as he smiled down at us.
“ Two more days Ladies and Gents…. Then this pool will be filled with you competing for the top three, Be back for
Practice tomorrow morning at 5:30.”
I pulled my body out of the water and pulled my cap off my head. My wet hair soaked down my back as I picked up my water. I looked around me with a bright smile. ‘2012 Olympics’ Banners where all around me. I looked at the pool across from me taking a deep breath. I felt a hand wrap around my waist playfully. I looked up to see one of my good friends on the team.
“ Hey Grayson!”
I smiled leaning into his grip. He moved his arm up and wrapped them around my shoulders with a grin.
“What a great practice!”
He giggled kissing my cheek. I pushed him away with a smile. I hit his arm grinning. I looked at him standing proudly in front of me. We both had made it somehow? My accident was just a memory now. Six months after the surgery and my dad had invited me to come to the U.S.A. to train for the Olympics and join the team. I couldn’t pass up the opportunity and now I’m representing U.S.A. proudly. Grayson had been my friend since day one. His lean strong figure towered over my small curvy one. Some of his blonde hair fell in his face as he looked at me. I looked away feeling slight butterflies in my stomach churning around. I had always had a soft spot for him, but it was never anything serious.
“Did you want to meet later for lunch?”
I pondered. His cheerful charisma couldn’t turn down my request. Even after the tapered practice I couldn’t help but be a little bit exhausted.
“ I would love too, what time is you’re family coming in though?”
He remembered a vital part of my day that I had forgotten.
“ GAH, Dangit… I will call you to schedule something!”
I ran into the locker room almost slipping on some of the chlorine water that the other girl swimmers had dragged in with them and dripped off our exhausted limbs and hair. I dried my muscular body quickly before slipping my dry clothing on. I slapped Vanilla lotion on my body trying to mask the dreadful chlorinated smell. I threw the over sized neon green Speedo backpack on my back before slipping on my navy blue toms and going outside to face the London traffic. Everyone was already looking forward to the opening ceremony that would be held tomorrow night. My hair had already started to dry as I got to my fancy hotel the Olympics put me up in. I opened the large door and walked inside. Everything was completely silent as I walked into the bathroom to take a quick shower.
I slipped into the large walk in shower letting the hot water run over my chlorinated body. I stepped out of the shower after washing. The tiles formed goose bumps on my skin. I slipped into a blue maxi dress with a ruffled strapless top. I dried my hair letting the curls form before putting on a little bit of BB cream and some mascara. My curly hair had gotten longer and flowed perfectly over my shoulders. I ran out of the bathroom and into the large master bedroom cleaning up slightly. I looked down at my phone that was buzzing. It was my mother calling once again.
“Hello?!”
I answered running into the kitchen to load my dishwasher.
“Hello Baby! We will be at your flat in about five minutes” I could hear excitement dripping from her voice. I had to admit I was excited too, I hadn’t seen my family in over six months. I rubbed my temple with my free hand.
“ Okay! I’ll buzz you in! Love you.” I mumbled before hanging up quickly.
I heard a knock on the door and felt slightly puzzled. I waltzed over to the door plastering a smile on my face even though I was exhausted. I opened the door and felt a hard pain in my chest as I stared at the man standing in front of me. His dark green orbs stared at me, his grin made his dimples become even more defined on his cheeks. His used to be little baby curls where replaced with longer swooshed waves. I couldn’t help but stare at him and look at the flowers he held in his large hand. This boy who I used to know so well stood in front of me looking like a man. The countless hours of his fame and tour caused me not to see him in over a year. All I could remember was the relationship between us that didn’t last once he got to X factor. He was immediately labeled as the ‘womanizer’ of the band. I stood frozen for what seemed like forever before I spoke.
“ H-Harry?” I whispered feeling my breath catch in my throat.
“ Surprise!” He smiled.
