I sat in class with my buddies, we were making a ruckus. Simon Shay was on his phone. Eliot Walker was trying to hook up with some girls. Nickolas Carl was sleeping. While me and Mathew Dyke were talking. I truly felt bad for the teacher who kept throwing us glares of hatred.
I gave a small glance at the clock on the wall, it read 2:27 PM. We have two minutes until the end of school, because after that it would be Christmas vacation. Finally.
Before the bell even rung we had packed up and sauntered out of the classroom with our heads held high. We walked down the hallways heading towards our lockers when the bell rang. People came surging out of their classes, flooding the hall.
They gave us one look and cleared a path for us. I could hear all of their whispers and the gossip they told about us. I flung my bag onto the floor next to my locker and pulled out my coat. Then I scooped it up and headed for the front doors of the school.
Cool air hit my shoulders as I trudged outside in the fresh snow. A very high pitched voice came from behind me just as I had put on my headphones.
"Xavier! Wait up. We need to talk." Said Alena the schools most popular girl. She wore barely anything and was flanked by her stuck up cronies. She wore tall stilettos and her face was caked with makeup. Her blond hair swished behind her as she walked. I stood still not saying a word because I knew that if I did then they would hurt her feelings. I clenched my jaw and tensed as she approached. I glared at her. "Hey Xavier..." Her voice trailed off. "She carefully grasped my arm as she waved her friends off. "Wanna go to my place?"she used a seductive voice as her eyes showed what she wanted to say.
"No." Then I shrugged her off and put my headphones back on. She walked behind me, her heels slipping on bits of ice. I turned around slowly and deliberately. "Leave me alone now. I have five reasons why." I opened my fist. "One, two, three, four and five." I quoted Charlie Browns Christmas Movie. My hand was balled into a fist as I tried to look threatening. She then turned away furiously her short skirt flared. As she spun she slipped on some ice and tumbled to the ground. I laughed and pressed play on my music.
I took a short cut through the park. Soft snow glistened on the trees and ground. I was really looking forwards to going home. My breath was visible in the air. My hands were shoved in my pockets. I went into the small woods. I took careful steps so that I wouldn't slip on the frozen snow. I was almost frozen as I looked at an odd pile of snow.
From it a pale hand was extended on the floor, limp. I got on my hands and knees to feel for a pulse. I waited 15 seconds before a soft pump came from the wrist. I dug some snow off the body and was very careful not to step on it. A girl that looked to be 15 or 16 was sleeping soundly, her hair was almost black. Her brow was softly creased and I stood in awe. Her pale skin was encased in frost. She wore a long and light dress that extended to her ankles. Her feet left bare.
Snowflakes were caught in her hair and eyelashes. Around her neck was a silver chain with a closed locket. Then I looked at her ears, they were pointed like fairytale elves. Then I remembered that she could be dying. So I removed my coat and wrapped it around her shoulders. I scooped her up expecting a bit of weight but she was surprisingly light. Her hands fell limply by her side as I started to walk home again.
