Stepping into the dark cave, Dr. Jones lit a torch and took a deep breath. This was the Infinite Cave, the most feared cave in the world of archeology. But not feared by legendary archeologist Indiana Jones.
Making his way down the tight walls, he began to regret not bringing his assistant.
"James, stay out here alright? I have to do this alone." He had said.
"Indy be reasonable! Please don't go in there alone!" James had said.
But now Indy was wishing he had been reasonable and listened to James. It was getting tighter and the walls were slicked with what seemed like slime and water.
"I need to watch my step." He thought.
He wouldn't be in terrible danger if he slipped but he might not be able to get back up in the tight space. The torch was beginning to go out and he couldn't help but think about Marion and when they were in the Well of Souls.
Determined to get the Ark of the Covenant, he was cast into the Well of Souls. But, it was covered in snakes and well... you know that's what Indiana Jones hates most. The torches had begun to go out and so had Indy's hope of getting out alive with Marion.
However he had succeeded and was given many options to explore. He was very excited that he wouldn't have to be doing much teaching back at home. Not only was he infamous for his bravery, but also for not grading papers.
He came across a large gap in the floor. Placing the torch on the ground, he took his leather bullwhip and whipped it on a ledge above. After making sure the whip was secure, he swung across. But the gap was too large and he nearly fell into the gap that was sure to lead to death.
"Or would it?" He wondered.
He took a broken piece of wood from the floor and dropped it down.
"One, two."
Then he heard the wood crack. He could make it! The torch was thrown down and he could see the floor! On the way climbing down he slipped and fell right on his front side.
Groaning, he sat up and rubbed his sore hip bone. Then a strange sight caught his eye. He stood up and grabbed the torch to get better light.
"What the hell is this?" He asked himself.
It looked like a block of metal merged into the wall. But in the block of metal was a man. His face was of agony and hurt. His arms were half near his face, as if he tried to cover his eyes.
Indy was stunned. This man looked almost like him! It would be a perfect match if Indy shaved. He slid his hands over the metal. It was cool to the touch and was surprisingly bumby.
"How is this possible?" Indy asked.
The man inside did nothing. Indy assumed it was just a sculpture that someone made a long time ago and was buried in the cave. But the way the block was in the wall showed signs of intense care and exact measurement.
Confused, Indy looked to the right side and saw some controls. One had yellow box shaped buttons while a big grid flashing green was above it. Indy began to reach for the buttons but the technology was way too advanced for him. He didn't want to mess up in case it was a trap and then the cave would collapse.
But he was just too curious and he pushed the first yellow button. The block moved and shifted to the floor with a loud clank! Pebbles fell to the floor and the top of the cave rumbled.
Indy was still for moment and realized that he couldn't do anything without having his life be in danger. So he took out his notebook and began to sketch the mysterious man in the block of metal.
Hours must of passed because the summer mid-afternoon light disappeared. Standing up, Indy tilted his brown fedora respectfully towards the block.
"I don't know if you can hear me, but I'm sorry I can't do more. But I have to get back." Indy said.
A sudden wave of foolishness wove over him as he realized he might as well have been talking to the Mona Lisa. He began climbing up the walls and after a few attempts made it back over the edge. Glancing down, he felt a pang of regret but shrugged it off and walked towards the entrance.
Little did he know that the man inside was Han Solo. He heard everything Indy said. He couldn't move but his mind was fully awake.
"NO! Don't go please! Let me out! I need to get back to Leia please don't go!" He screamed in his mind.
Giving up hope, he mentally broke down and the carbon hibernation began once again...
