Dan's POV

I didn't realize that we had fallen asleep. All I remember is smelling her apple-scented shampoo that she must use. It was a scent that had become a sort of comfort to me.

I realIzed I was awake, but didn't open my eyes right away. I took a moment to just feel her against me, one arm slung over her side and the other was under her head, acting as a pillow. Her slow breathing and shallow breaths had a relaxing affect on me. Maybe because I knew she was safe here in my arms. I would never let anything happen to her if I could help it.

My eyes eventually opened. Adjusting to the darkness that had fallen over the room, the first thing that had come into my vision was the clock. It was 10:28 p.m. Had we really been sleeping that long? I had gotten to her house at 4. I shrugged. deciding to just fall back asleep. But a thought crossed my mind:

When would her parents be home?

I couldn't risk getting caught. I wasn't worried about what would happen to me, I was worried about how everyone would treat Jasmine.

Trying my best not to wake her, I slipped out of her bed and searched for my shirt, which wasn't easy in the dark. Once I found it, I pulled it on and found some paper to write on. I scribbled a note, left it on her bedside table, and left the room quietly. I tiptoed down the stairs, pulled my
shoes on and entered into the darkness of the night. It was a cold night, and I cursed under my breath at not having brought a jacket. Jogging over to my car, I jumped inside and turned the heat up. Looking back at her house one last time, I turned to look behind me, and backed out onto the road. Hopefully the neighbors didn't see anything.

The realization that it was a Friday night and I didn't have to get up the next morning hit me, so I decided to stop at McGregor's. It was a small pub around the block from my apartment.

I parked, hopped out and locked my car, heading inside. Pulling the door open, I took a step in and instantly smelled the alcohol. The whole place wasn't very big. It had a long bar, some booths, and an area on the opposite side with a pool table and some other games.

I took a seat at the bar, waiting for the tender.

"What can I get ya?" he inquired, walking towards me. He looked young, maybe my age or a little older.

"I'll take a scotch. Just one though, I have to drive home," I answered. He nodded, and turned his back to me to pour my drink. While I waited I looked around. There were a few people playing pool, and a few groups sitting at the booths. It wasn't packed, but it wasn't empty. An older man sat at the opposite end of the bar. When we made eye contact, he gave me a nod and then took a sip of his drink.

The tender brought my drink, sliding it to me on a napkin.

"Thanks," I nodded and took a small sip. Feeling the familiar sting at the back of my throat, I enjoyed the taste. I wasn't a big drinker, but I sure knew how to appreciate it.

My mind flashed back to my first kiss with Jasmine. That night at the museum was so amazing. I was sure she wouldn't show up, but when I found her looking for me, I knew she was the one. It sounds kind of stupid, even I can't understand my reasoning. But the fact that she came to some stupid exhibit to meet me, that was special to me.
