"Congrats Kristine!!!" Was all that I would hear for the next few hours. The only thing that was keeping me from complete misery was my boyfriend Jorge. It was graduation day of my junior year. Only one more year left in this hell hole. Jorge and I have been through a lot. We dated earlier this year but my parents made me break up with him because my grades were slipping. "Hey babe" Jorge whispered in my ear, "are you ready for our road trip?!" Of course I was, Jorge and I are driving from San Antonio to Austin to explore the university and city. We both were dead set on getting scholarships. Jorge getting a scholarship in soccer and me in basketball. "Of course Jorjor!!" "How could I not be?" I mean I'll be with my guy and all my best friends. Not a second later, Anise, one of my best friends, whispers something inaudible in our ears nearly making us scream. "Damn Anise, what are you doing?" I whisper/yelled. "Well I was trying to make sure that we're going to leave right at 4 because the wicked witch of the west is on my case today." Anise said. I softened by the mention of her step mom Jackie's name. Anise's mom passed away 6 years ago. It's still a though subject for her, so when her dad told her that he was getting married two years ago she lashed out.
She's getting better though and I'm proud of her for at least trying...a little. But some days she can't take the pressure her dad and teachers have her under. She is bound to be the next valedictorian and everyone expects a lot from her.

Two and a half hours later
After watching the Seniors graduate, saying goodbye to our parents, Jorge, Anise, Victoria, Bruce, James, Elizabeth, Dylan and I split up in to two cars to drive to Austin. We drove the hour drive and got there around 5:30. We were all starving to we headed over to a sub shop called 'Thundercloud subs'.
After eating a delicious lunch we all decided to go to Ziker Metropolitan Park and watch the sunset.
When we got to the park we all broke off into pairs with the exception of James tagging along with Jorge and I. But, Jorge had something different in mind. "Hey James, could you give Kristine and I a moment alone please?" Jorge asks. After a few awkward seconds James replied "Oh of course! Sorry bro."
After James awkwardly left ,Jorge grabbed my hand and started to pull me down the gravely path. We finally stopped at a little clearing that gave way to the Colorado River. After admiring the scenery around us for a few seconds , Jorge cleared he's throat making me look back at him. When I looked up into Jorge's care-filled brown eyes I knew something big was about to happen. I waited there patiently for him to tell me something.
After a few moments of him saying nothing I piped up and said "Jorge is everything okay?" He then snapped out of his trance and pulled something out of his back pocket.
What I saw in his hand was a little blue Tiffany & Co. box. I was so shocked and surprised. Jorge was always a gentleman but he's never ever done anything like this. After a few seconds of us awkwardly staring at each other again he said "kris, I know we have been through so much and everything but, I just wanted you to know that I love you and I always will. I got you this gift to show you how much I love you. I hope you like it as much as I like you." He said with a wink.
I laughed at his last comment while trying not to think about the other one. JORGE SAID HE LOVED ME!!!!! What am I gonna do?? "So, um here you go" Jorge says. I immediately take the box and shakily open the lid. What I saw when I open the box left me a little speechless. I was so awestruck in that moment that I knew what I needed to do.
