------------------------

3 months ago I was told I was cancer free. Through the past two years being Carly Hollis; I don't think I've ever been more relieved. I mean the past 2 years of Leukemia wasn't even the worst part of my life. I've lost so many people that I don't even know who's in my life or out of it. The only person I do know who stayed is my best friend since college, Lauren.

Today I go into my first job interview as a 22 year-old. I curled my shoulder-length shiny brown hair and finished off my make-up with a pretty pink lipstick. I wore a knee length pencil skirt with a flowing white blouse. I think to myself today is a new beginning and I'm ready to start my life over again.

I walked out of my room to grab my coffee and leave only to see my roommate, Lauren, sniffling on the couch watching The Notebook. "Seriously, Lauren," I say to her. "This is the third time this week! Whats up with you?"

Lauren sits up and I could see the mascara stains running down her cheeks. "I ju-ust ca-an't sto-op watching i-it, its ju-ust so-o sad," Lauren wails to me. I walk up next her and sit down. I can't get a break with this girl, she has more problems than me. "I mean th-th-their love story is just so s-s-ad, and It makes me think that I'll never f-f-ind someone this loving," she continues to cry.

"Seriously Lauren, yesterday you just went on a date with your boyfriend!" I yell at her. "You know what Lauren?" I ask her as I stand up to leave knowing if I don't now, I'll never leave.

"What?" She asks; I could still hear her sniffling as I walked to the door.

I open the door and look back at her and tell her in the most loving way I can, "You are the most problematic friend ever but I wouldn't have it any other way." I can hear her laugh as I walk out the door. I really am lucky to have her even if she obsesses over The Notebook and forgets that she even has a boyfriend.

I walked down towards the elevator and take it down to the entrance. Stepping outside I can feel the cool October breeze. I whistle for a cab and luckily it comes right away.

As I reach for the door handle; it opens banging my head on the door. I fall back only for my arm to be caught and I get pulled back up to see the person who opened the door.

With a quite rude tone, he tells me, "You should really wait for the person to get out first."

"Well excuse me then. Sorry I just assumed there was no one in it." I give him a hard glare. I look down to see he still has my arm, and I shake his hand off of it.

"Whoa, whoa. Shouldn't you be thanking me, I mean I did just save you from falling." He tells me with an oh-so-knowing demeanor. Gosh this man is rude.

"Fine thanks for saving my butt from hitting the ground that's two feet down from me." I walk around him and get in the cab to leave when he turns around and looks at me. I never realized how good looking he was till now; his jaw is chiseled and his eyes are beaming light blue with a hint of hazel. His teeth are the epitome of straight white teeth.

He looks at me with a meaningful smile and says, "Hey, I don't mean any harm. I'm just trying to help, and by the way I'm Cameron, but you can call me Cam."

"Hi I'm late and I have a job interview to get to, so it wasn't nice to meet you Cameron but I'm leaving." I tell him giving the nicest smile I could muster.
As I closed the door he grabbed and asked me, "and you are?"

"I'm Carly, Carly Hollis," I tell him as he steps back.

He nodded and smiled saying to me. "I'll see you around Miss. Hollis."

Realizing I was being a little harsh I tell him in the nicest way I could, "You too." I close the door and tell the cab driver where to go. Being late is not an option right now, "Step on it too please, I'm late!"
