Chapter 2
---
After we got our food we sat down. There wasn't a lot of people here. A couple with their toddlers and some old people. It was only ten in the morning and people had work and school. I'm am so glad that I finished school last year. No more people I can't stand. Truthfully the only friends I had were in high school were Niall, Maddy and this guy Drew. Drew moved to America last year. He decided he was going to go to Juilliard to try to become and actor, I'm not saying that I was a loser with no friends. Just they were the ones I could tell anything too. My best friends.
"So," Maddy started taking a sip of her orange juice. "You going to tell me or what?"
"Oh right." I replied.
"Wellimightjusthavesomefeelingforniall." I said quickly taking a bite of my hash brown.
She looked at me for a short moment. "What?"
I sighed. "I think I like Niall."
"Woah! Woah! Woah!" Almost spitting out her juice. It cause a couple of older people to look over.
"Shh!" I said putting my finger over my lips.
"Well, I'm not actually sure If I do." I said.
"So you don't?" She asked.
"I might." I shrugged.
"So you do?" She sipped her juice.
"I may or may not have a crush on Niall," I sighed.
Maddy smiled.
"What?" I asked.
"I knew it!" She said louder than she thought she did.
"What do you mean?" I asked.
"I'm your best friend. Well, next to Niall. I know everything about you. They way you look at him. Or when you twirl your hair with your fingers when he's around," she said. "There's a lot of things that you don't know I know about you."
"Oh really?" I asked.
"Yes really." She said. "But, I'm happy that you finally realized your in love with Niall." She said.
"I'm not in love with Niall." I said. "It's a tiny crush. I think."
"If tiny means the size of a elephant, then yes "tiny"." She said.
"Oh, shut up!" I laughed.
"Anyways," I started to change the subject but my phone started to ring to the tone of Niall ringtone he made with Nokia. When he's saying he's trapped in your phone and you can only get him out if you answer the call. He wanted to set it for his contact and I let him. He said it was because I never answer my phone and if it was a possibility that my best friend was stuck in a phone then maybe it would motivate me. I thought it was pretty cute.
I quickly found my phone and answered it as people started at me because of my obnoxious ringtone.
"Hey Horan." I answered smiling. The people in McDonalds looked back to their food and people that they were here with.
"Hey fishy." He said tiredly. The first time I told him that my last name was Fisher, he thought I said fishy. We were in first grade. I remember it like it wasn't all those years ago. Like it was just last week. He's been calling me that forever.
"What's up?" I asked.
"Well I was just wondering if you've talked to Maddy today?" He asked. "I tried to call her but she didn't pick up. Knowing her she was probably sleeping or something."
"Yeah actually, she's right here." I said looking at her. She was in the middle of biting her hash brown.
"Can I speak to her please?" He asked.
"Yeah, hold on," I said taking the phone away from my ear. "He wants to talk to you."
She quickly swallowed her hash brown and took the phone from my hands.
"Hey Niall." She said. "Do what?.....Why?.....Okay I guess." She put her index finger up indicating that she needed a minute. She stood up and walked outside.
I watched her as she tapped her foot on the sidewalk. She occasionally would nod her head even though he can't see her. Her mouth dropped and then formed into a wide smile. She kept nodding.
She eventually took the phone away from her ear and came back into the restaurant. She sat down and handed my phone to me. I slipped it into my pocket.
"What was that about?" I asked.
"Nothing." She said quickly. "Just telling me about Ghana."
"Oh." I said. I thought he already talked to her about it. Yesterday. Actually I remember. I was at her house last night and Niall was texting her about it. The way that she reacted to whatever he was saying, I'm almost 100% sure there is more going on here.
"Yeah," she said looking down. "So after this we are going shopping." She decided to change to subject.
"Oh really? Well I'd have to go home an get my credit card, all I have are bi-"
"No, I'll cover it." She smiled.
"Are you sure? It will only take a minute for me to run in and-"
"Positive."
Maddy, of all people doesn't like shopping at this time of day. She wold rather be laying in bed in sweatpants watching Keeping Up With the Kardashians with a cup of tea by her side. And paying for me? What. Who is this and what have they done with my best friend? I mean I'm not saying she's the laziest person ever, but it's Friday. She never does anything, and I mean anything on Friday. Well until the night time comes around.
"Are you sure nothing's going on?" I questioned her.
She simply shook her head.
"Shopping time!" She exclaimed. I sighed and threw my trash away.
"Shopping time." I mocked her following her out the door.
