The next day I woke up at 8:45. I was surprised that I slept in this late, I usually never did. I got up, gasping in pain as I moved my injured arm. I walked to the bathroom and, finding fresh bandages, rewrapped my wound. I then got dressed in a light grey t-shirt, jeans, and running shoes. After that, I walked back to the bathroom and, after much pain, tied my hair in a ponytail. Hearing a knock on my door, I walked into the main space in my room and called for the person to walk in. The door opened and in walked a woman with long, straightened blonde hair and blue eyes. She was dressed in a dark grey and off white patterned cloak and was wearing black shoes. Her good was pulled up halfway on her head and half of her hair was out on the right side. I stared at her for a second, unsure of who she was.
"It's okay, Alex. It's me your mother," she soothed.
I frowned in confusion. "But, your wolf has white eyes."
She nodded. "I know."
I looked at her a second longer before nodding. "That's strange."
"Yes, it is," she agreed. "You ready?"
I nodded. "Yeah."
I followed my mom out to the main room of the castle where I saw Marcus waiting for us. He was in an off white shirt and jeans. I walked next to my mom as we went down the hallway and out of the castle. We went through the stone wall surrounding the castle and into the village.
The village was bigger than it looked. The houses and nicer cottages surrounding the castle was the rich district. Then was the middlefolk and finally the poor. The village itself was pretty nice. There were shops here and there and two blacksmiths. Outside the village walls at one end were the farms. The other end, which we came in, had no farms. We visited the marketplaces, which was between each district. My mom even bought me a candy from one of them. I thanked her and continued walking.
We walked through the nicer marketplace until we reached some stables. My mother said this is where the horses the knights and Royal Shifters get. We walked around, looking at the horses displayed. We then reached one stall at the end that had a young, light brown horse in it. The horse had a dark brown mark on its head that was in the shape of an arrow. It's mane was black and went to the right at the front. When I held out my hand, it pressed against it and let me pet it.
"It seems to like you," Marcus observed.
"His name is Arrow," a voice said. We all turned to the right to see a man wearing a red plaid shirt, jeans, and boots walking towards us. He had dark brown eyes and hair that looked messy and wore a smile on his face.
"How much is he, Luke?" Ember asked.
"For you, $500, my Queen," Luke answered. "Tack and all. He's the fastest one I have."
"Sold," my mom said. She then looked down at me. "Looks like you have your first horse."
I gasped. "Really?"
My mom nodded as we stepped back to let Luke get the horse ready. "I got mine when I was ten."
"Really?" I asked.
"Yeah. They wanted to start young so I got my horse when I was ten," my mom explained.
"Then I'm starting only two years after you," I observed.
My mom nodded. "Yeah., I guess you are."
Luke finished getting the horse ready and brought him out. My mom payed him in cash and handed me the reigns. I took them and led him out of the stables. My mom then helped me on my horse and taught me how to ride him as we went back to the castle. When we got back, my mom led me to the stables on the side of the castle. She taught me how to take the equipment off of Arrow and how to brush him. I then gave him a carrot and put him in an empty stable next to my mom's horse, Zeus. We then walked in and I followed her to the kitchen for lunch.
For lunch we made quesadillas. After we ate, we walked out to the training yard and found it empty. We then agreed to spend a couple hours training. Training with my mom was nice. It was light training because of our injuries but it was still fun. After we trained, we went back into the castle and went into our rooms to get ready for dinner. I showered and got dressed in a sky blue shirt and jeans. I then followed Arthur out to the same spot for dinner.
"So what do you want to do tomorrow?" Marcus asked.
"I want to spend at least a couple hours training with Alex," my mother answered.
I swallowed a bite of spaghetti before responding. "Okay. Sounds good."
"Anything else?" Marcus asked.
"Not anything I can think of," Ember responded.
"Great. Well I'm going to help the Knights out of that's okay," Marcus told us, casting a glance at Ember at the last part.
My mom nodded. "That's perfectly fine. It's been awhile sense you joined their ranks."
"What do you mean?" I asked.
My mom turned to me. "Marcus didn't tell you he was a knight?"
I shook my head. "No, he didn't."
"I forgot all about it," Marcus said. "I'll tell you tomorrow, princess."
I smiled. "Okay."
We finished dinner and went back to our rooms. I changed into my pajamas before going into my soft bed. It was comfortable, much more so than my bed on the Island. I then remembered how Eric, Kyle, and Megan were also on the List. I went to bed thinking about where they could be right now.
