"No please, not Killian. Kill me." Emma screamed as The Dark One ripped out the pirates heart.
"Sorry Miss Swan, but you may come in useful and we both know this man is worthless."
Killian let out a groan as rumplestiltskin started to squeeze his heart.
"Mr Gold, please, you know what its like to lose someone you love. I cant go through that again, I need him."
He laughed before saying,
"It's time to say your goodbyes, dearie."
Emma ran over to Killian who was on the knelt on the floor in pain.
"No, no Killian, i'm so sorry. I tried i really tried."
Whilst looking up at her, he said,
"Emma. Its alright, its alright. Its going to be okay. Trust me." She stared back into his eyes, so she could remember what his eyes were like when they were full of life, full of love.
"I'm sorry Killian, i love you." she whispered, clutching hold of his body.
With one final squeeze, rumple had completely crushed Killians heart, causing Emma to be holding nothing but a shell of a man.
She screamed as she shook him.
"No, Killian please." Her tears kept falling as she carried on shaking. You promised! You promised."  with every cry her voice became louder and her  hands gripped tighter and tighter,
"You promised me you were a survivor." Her voice cracked as she looked at the lifeless body.
She heard footsteps running towards her
"Emma?" Mary-Margaret called out to her
"He's dead. He's de-ad." She whimpered as her throat became sore.
"I've lost him."

Hours later, Emma returned to hers and her parents flat with sore eyes and throat. Without saying a word she went to her room and slipped into bed. Her mum knocked on the door but she was too focused on the photo of her and Killian at the docks that was placed on her nightstand. It was taken on one of her favourite days, the sky was more blue then ever and she had gone to the docks as usual to see him. Henry had come to and the three of them spent the day laughing and talking. The waves were calm and sun was sending off beautiful yellow rays, even the trees looked more greener. somehow in amongst all the playfulness, Henry had captured a perfect moment of Emma and Killian smiling at each other like they were only thing in the world.
...
In the morning, after only an hour of sleep, Emma left the house without any breakfast to go to Killians ship. She walked the same route she walked that day, the same route she walked most days, but this time it was different. The sky wasn't blue and the sea was crashing, representing itself with harsh grey waves. The trees seemed bare and dull, even her bright, red jacket and golden, yellow hair seemed grey... thats when she realised. The colour in her life had gone, she had lost love more times then can count. The grey, the dullness, the sadness, it had taken over because, after years and years of repairing herself, she had well and truly broken.

AUTHORS NOTES: Just making this clear, this story is not showing Emma being weak at all! quite the opposite. For someone who has been through A LOT shes got passed it so well, shes had to watch Neal, graham, walsh, snow and even her son die (yes, snow and henry came back but watching someone die like that still affects you) its about time that she breaks. This story is just representing how death can really affect someone, she wanted this to be the guy she spent the rest of her life with and nows he gone forever, of course things are going to change for her and of course shes going to be broken.
