"Ava, hey! Over here!"

Echoing down the hallway was my best friends voice being bellowed from the depths of his lungs. God, did he want to yell any louder? The boy in question thundered down the corridor when he saw me return his wave and halted to a stop right beside my locker, leaning casually on the one next to mine.

"Isaac hey, what are you going here? Aren't you meant to be out at the field already? Isn't practise in..." I glanced down at my watch, all while balancing my millions of textbooks as I tried to fit them into my locker.
"Five minutes?" I slammed my locker closed and mirrored Isaacs actions so that I was leaning facing him.
"You're going to be so late."

Isaac huffed impatiently.
"I realise that loser, but I couldn't miss my favourite girl opening her acceptance letter from MIT. You haven't opened it yet have you? You better not have or I will be forced to disband this friendship!"

"Obviously I haven't opened it yet stupid! I was gonna wait until after training but since you're here I guess there's no time like the present. And you're going to jinx me! It's probably nothing but a rejection letter. At best maybe even a letter saying I've been put on the waitlist! So don't get so hyped up Zac, you're making me nervous!"

"You'll be fine! You're the smartest person I've ever met Ave! Now come on!! Open the letter! I don't want to be even more late than I already am."

"Okay then. Here goes nothing."

I reach around into my back and pull out a pristine envelope that I've been keeping safe with me ever since this morning when I picked up the mail. This letter holds my entire future. Everything I've been working for, for the past 4 years. Okay chill. It'll be fine. I looked over to Isaac who was resting his head on my shoulder and looking at the envelope expectantly. I peeled back the opening agonisingly slow and half closed my eyes like I was expecting it to explode or something.

"Oh for god's sake Ava!" Isaac huffed and pulled the envelope out of my hands.
"Dear Ava Crawly, blah blah blah technical boring stuff, we are pleased to- oh my god! Ava!! Oh my god!"

"Isaac what? What does it say?!"

"You're accepted! You got in! I'm so proud of you!!" Isaac said and pulled me into an enormous bear hug. I couldn't move. I couldn't believe it. Wow. This is amazing. I actually got into my dream school! I was pulled out of my reverie of shock by Isaac shaking me side to side. His strong arms being able to toss me back and forth like I was some rag doll.

"Isaac chill! You're making me lose brain cells before I even get the chance to go to MIT!" I laugh, grabbing his arms to stop his rapid shaking. I couldn't stop smiling. I was just so damn excited! I'd done it! I'd actually got accepted. It all felt like a dream!

"I'm sorry Ave, I'm just so damn excited for you! This is awesome!" He said pulling me back in for a final hug.
"Let's go to Marty's to celebrate!"

"Uh Isaac don't you still have to go to practise?"

Isaac suddenly stopped, a sudden realisation dawning upon his face.
"Umm. You're right. Coach is going to kill me, I'm so late. Oh well. Marty's after practise?" Not even waiting for me to answer he practically sprinted down the hall to his training.

"Out of the way people!" I yelled. "Dead man coming through."

Isaac and I sat in our booth at Marty's diner, our favourite spot ever since we were little.

"How weird is this. We've only got two more months left of school. I'm going to MIT, you're going to BU. It's going to be awesome but scary."

"At least we'll be only like a 10 minute drive from each other." Isaac said as he shovelled food into his mouth.
