ABC: It Hurt

Although it hurt
Because of your words I am stronger
Cautious I am now of people like you
Deep inside I am grateful you hurt me
Even though I hate you I am grateful
For those words you told me
Glad they pierced me like knives
Happy for the slap in the face
I bet you don't expect me to laugh now
Just because it hurt then
Kick in the gut it felt like
Love the lesson you taught me
Meaningless now those words
Now just a stain of your true colors
Opened the door for better
Powerful words I now laugh at
Questioning my choices now I see you
Rapid tears did fall
Still fall but now of joy
The glares you give make me laugh
Ugly words of yours
Vacant is the hurt I once felt
Words I hated I now appreciate
Xylophone, you played me like
You once made me cry
Zebras are as black and white as you

I wrote this about something that actually happened, to me and I really like how it is expressed in this poem. I know it's a little longer than most of my poems, but enjoy!  Also,  I'd like to dedicate this poem to thoughts2002 because she a great writer and an even better friend, remember when you get knocked down you have to pick yourself up and keep fighting. Stay strong! ❤️
