Dawn: Sunshine.

[Dawn's Point of View]

You could say this year was okay for you if you lived in a house, with parents, siblings, and people who love you and supported you. Mine didn't go this well. My headmaster, Dumbledore, gave me a option to live with my adoptive parents or in a house with just myself as my cousin's would be with their mothers.

I picked my adoptive parents --- or really adoptive mother, technically --- because I couldn't bare to go into that big house with really creepy things in there and with my Uncle's house elf, Kreature. Besides I wouldn't own the house fully as only males of the Black family were allowed to own it and Uncle Sirius didn't have any son's (that he knows of) he only has daughters. So it'd be owned by my boyfriend, Harry Potter.

I didn't stay with him either because he refused me to go to his Aunt and Uncle's place his excuse was he didn't want them making me feel bad the way I do now and he didn't want me to see them making his blood boil by just them talking to him. So I stayed with my Adoptive Mother.

I've stayed away from her the best I could but it wasn't enough as I'd get abused by her and she'd tell me things as like Harry just pity's me and he doesn't like me for me, just wanting me for my body. I'd leave on weekends when she'd sleep all day to Mrs. Funderson place where we'd watch any Disney or classic movie me or her desire. Today was her turn to watch something and she picked Funny Face with Audrey Hepburn and Fred Astaire. She would sing along to the singing and I could see she loved this movie, honestly I did to, it was a beautiful film of a girl thinking she isn't beautiful and then becoming a model to go to Paris and fall in love in Paris. It was amazing.

"I could never do this...go to Paris and model, that'd be stressful. And to please everyone that still wouldn't be fun." I commented in the middle of the movie and Mrs. Funderson chuckled.

"Sweetie, she found this fun. It might not be your thing but it is definitely a beautiful women."

"Hasn't there been more things this women has done?" I question looking over to Mrs. Funderson as they start singing a song about How To Be Lovely.

Mrs. Funderson smiled and nodded. "Audrey Hepburn was a daughter of a Nazi and took ballet to help her family, she helped so many of her family from that. She did film to help 'Goodwill' and the UNICEF against the Nazi's and won the presidential medal of Freedom for all she's done." She told me.

Mrs. Funderson taught me a lot about the actor's and actresses of films we watched, a lot about Audrey Hepburn, and it was amazing weekends.

A few weeks after staying with Mrs. Funderson it was getting closer and closer to getting back to Hogwarts. My O.W.Ls arrived yesterday and my grades were fine on that, I could continue taking Potions, DADA, Herbology(sp?), Charms, and Transfiguration too. so that's exciting.

I don't exactly know what I want to do in the future so I'm waiting until I graduate (if I graduate) from Hogwarts to know what I'll be doing. Right now I'm just getting my grades up and to hopefully have a good year. At least my devil of a aunt wont be there anymore, that's a bonus.

"Dawn!" Screamed the slurred voice of my adoptive mother as I sat on my bed writing in my journal about my day, it was therapeutic for me to do this. To write out my feelings. "Get down here NOW!"

I sighed heavily and close my journal putting it on my bedside table and get up, pushing down my shirt that was slightly too small on me, and looking at my appearance in the mirror. My black hair was shorter then normal as my adoptive mother made me cut it saying I had too much hair so now it was over my shoulders, curly and wavy and almost uncontrollable on some days. It worked though. My pale complexion almost gone as my skin has become more between tan and pale and my long body Skinner then usual as I haven't ate much.

Walking downstairs I see my adoptive mother standing in the kitchen, burger in hand as well as a drink of some sort. The sight of the food making my mouth water hungrily. "Yes?"

"Ma'am" she snapped.

"Yes, Ma'am." I repeated myself, almost bitterly. She looked pleased of herself at me behaving.

"What the fucking hell is that?" She growled nodding to Hedwig stuck in the fridge trying to get free but my adoptive mother somehow tied it's leg to the door of it. "Oh my god, Hedwig!" I gasp going to help her but my adoptive mother stopped me by grabbing me by the hair and pulling me back to her eyesight. "What the hell is this doing here?" She growled angrily and annoyed.

"It's Harry's owl, Mother! Please, let me help her. Harry's sent me a letter." I groan, my head throbbing in pain from being pulled.

"Really?" She said, interest and amusement in her voice She turned to look at the struggling owl a murderous look in Hedwig's eyes most likely wanting to murder my Adoptive mother. She let me go growling at me to stay there as she went to the owl.

Hedwig pecked at my Adoptive mother's fingers and hands as she got the letter off of her and kept Hedwig like that as she opened the letter, Hedwig desperately trying to hurt my awful mother.

"Hey! That's privet!" I snap going over to grab it but she held it up high where I couldn't reach and gave me a glare so deadly I would've been dead.

"Don't speak back to me that rudely, Missy!" Snapped my mother raising up a hand and slapping me across the face with a loud SMACK!

I held my cheek in pain as she read the letter her eyes flickering right and left reading the whole letter, her face slowly turning red in rage. She soon ripped up the letter making my heart drop to the pit in my stomach.

"WHAT!" I gasp wanting to read that wanting to know what my boyfriend has sent me but she grabbed my wrist roughly, holding it tightly almost leaving a bruise.

"You're not going to a arrogant boy like that, Missy. He's a bad influence on you." She growled.

"Likely!" I yelled. "You're the bad influence! You abuse me daily!"

That seemed to tick her off enough and I knew I went to far. "That's enough." She said in such a calming voice it scared me. She dragged me off towards the door behind the stairs and opened it to show a dark and dusty basement. "Don't make a racket or you'll get it, Missy." She growled throwing me down the stairs knowing I'd be bruised the next day.

I groan as the cold stone flooring came into intact with my warm skin making me shiver and look up to see her slamming the door shut now I'm in complete darkness.

Hey, Minions! Here's the first chapter of "Broken"! I'm going to enjoy writing 6th year as it's my second favorite year (forth year!).

Honestly I hate writing Dawn's mother and her getting abused, it hurt a lot to write Hedwig being stuck! She's my favorite owl :(

Lastly, HAPPY NEW YEARS! Hope your New Years will be awesome I'm going to enjoy it with my family and my Girlfriend :D but what's your New Years Resolution, Minions? Mine is just getting out of the house more and by getting out of the house more I mean going to Barns N Nobles and staying there...
