I am a feminist.

There, I said it. I am a feminist and I'm proud to be one.

No, being a feminist does not mean I hate men. It does not mean I am a dyke, and no, I will not go make you a damn sandwich.

So, what is feminism?

Fem·i·nism

/ˈfeməˌnizəm/

noun

Feminism is the advocacy of women's rights on the grounds of political, social, and economic equality to men.

What does that mean exactly? Feminism is the belief that men and women are equals and, therefore, deserve equal rights and should be treated as equals on any platform. It's quite simple really.

That being said, there is one simple way to figure out if you are a feminist or not.

      1. Do you believe men and women should be treated equally?

Yes?

Ding, ding, ding! We have a winner!

Unfortunately, if you answered no, I will kindly ask you to reevaluate your life decisions.

I'm kidding! If you answered no, stay, stick around and explain why you answered what you did. This is a page to learn new things, not to bash people.

In this "book", we'll talk about the importance of types of feminism. We'll discuss intersectionality, minorities, white feminism, representation in media, slut-shaming, and so much more.

Drop a question, opinion, or a comment. Don't be afraid, we're all here to support one another. If you have a certain topic you'd like us to cover, speak up! Or if you don't feel comfortable announcing it, private message us, or through our ask FM (listed in the bio).

Gosh, I'm so excited!

xx
