I was on my way to Chemistry when I felt a hand on my shoulder. I don't know why but I jumped. I have been extremely jumpy ever since I watched Derek train Erica and Isaac probably because of the full moon tonight.
I swiftly turned around to see a confused Isaac. He cocked his head slightly "You OK? I was calling your name."
"Yeah, i'm fine. Sorry." I said.
I could tell from his face that he didn't believe me but he let it slide. He took my hand and we made our way into Chemistry together.
Five minutes into Mr. Martin's lesson I zoned out until the principal came into the room. The whole class became silent even Mr. Martin.
"I need to see.. uhh.. Sophia Pritchit," Mr. Williams said finally spotting me. I stood up about to walk over. "Umm.. bring your stuff."
Isaac turned around to give me a look. I stared at him for a second before sliding my notebook into my bag and slinging it over my shoulder.
All eyes were on me as I walked out of the classroom with Mr. Williams following close behind before closing the door.
"Listen, Sophia this is very hard for me to say." He said reluctantly making eye contact with me. "But Heather, and your younger sister Margaret have been tragically killed in a car crash."
I could feel my mouth slowly open with shock. My parents both died when they went on a cruise for their anniversary and the boat had malfunctions and sunk. The only person I had left was my sister Margaret and considering both of my parents were only children and all of my grandparents passed away we both had to go to an orphanage. We were then adopted by Heather and Jeremy. Heather was everything you could ask for in a mother but Jeremy was so consumed in work that all of us barely saw him.
I was now in a back room of the school's office waiting for Jeremy to come pick me up. I had been hysterically crying for the last twenty minutes. Not that you can blame me. I would drive myself back home but I was in no shape to drive anywhere.
I took some deep breathes trying to cool myself down. I was semi successful but I still felt the warm tears running down my face.
I heard the door handle go down and I watched as the door slowly open to see Isaac peer around. I sprang out of my chair and ran into his arms. I immediately felt his arms wrap around me holding me tight.
"Isaac they're dead they're both dead,"
"I know, I know," He whispered into my hair before kissing my head.
"What am I supposed to do?" I sobbed wiping my nose with some tissue.
I hear him shush me not knowing what to say since we both knew I couldn't do anything.
"Jeremy can't get out of work for another hour so the school is letting me take you home." He said after a few moments.
I buried my head into his chest smelling the familiar scent of his cologne comforting me slightly. Thinking about how much work actually consumed Jeremy's life was scary. He seemed pretty nice whenever I did see him. But what kind of a husband doesn't demand to get out of work when his wife dies. It made me cry even harder knowing that this is how it would be for now on.
I took a deep breathe and pulled away from Isaac seeing a wet spot on his green sweater from me crying.
"Sorry," I said wiping my nose again. I apologize way to often.
He rolled his eyes realizing how ridiculous I was being before taking my hand and leading me out of the room.
