I arrived in my room and plugged my phone into the wall. I looked at myself in the long mirror on my wall and sighed. I definitely needed to change, my hair was in a messy bun and the oversized t-shirt and leggings adorning my figure wasn't football game worthy. I locked the door and stipped out of my clothing. I pulled on a dark black cropped top, pulling a dark red flannel over top. I changed into my dark-washed distressed jeans and my black combat boots.
I added a little more mascara and a small line of eyeliner. I never was very good at makeup, but I've always loved my black eyeliner. I grabbed my phone and saw that I had many texts from Alexa, many pictures were of the various shoes she was trying on, gushing about how she loved each pair and couldn't pick which pair to buy. I answered her texts, and then continued to the text from Carter.
Carter and I were friends since elementary school. We met on the playground, he pushed me over, I kicked him in the gut, and it was friendship ever since.
Carter: U coming to the game?
I replied with a yes and shoved my phone in my pocket. I skipped down the stairs and found Harry typing furiously on his laptop. "I'm going to the game, with Alexa and Megan." I said, walking to the front door. Harry grunted and waved his hand at me. I laughed, "I'm going to buy drugs." "Cool." Harry mumbled, focusing on his screen. "I'm going to get a baby daddy." I said. Harry incoherently mumbled words at me and continued typing. I shook my head at him and pulled out my phone.
Alexaah: We're outside!! Come onnnn!
I pulled open the front door and jumped in the car, seeing Alexa's brother, William, driving the car. Alexa never got her driving license, she failed the test too many times to count and gave up. Megan was sitting in the back, holding two large paper stacks. She handed me the smaller stack and smiled, "You're handing out the bar invites, since there's less people to converse with, " Megan smirked, "Cause I know you're so antisocial."
I laughed and grabbed the stack of invitations. "Always so thoughtful." I mockingly gushed, holding the invites to my heart. Megan laughed and bumped my shoulder. Alexa turned from the passenger seat to face us. "Okay, I'll walk around with Megan, make sure she gives out invites to the right people for the house party." Alexa said, clapping her hands excitedly. "I thought it was come one, come all?" I teased. Alexa glared at me and sighed dramatically, "As long as they're hot guys." She winked at me and her brother groaned. She giggled and continued on with her plans.
William dropped us off at the school stadium and we all jumped out. Alexa grabbed me in a hug before pushing me towards the crowd of people by the convenience stand. "Have fun!" She yelled, grabbing Megan and dragging her to the bleachers. I walked over to the group and saw a tall, blonde head. "Carter!" I yelled. His head looked over the crowd till he spotted me. A large smile formed over his face and he excused himself from the conversation and walked towards me.
"Mitchell!" Carter said, wrapping his arms around me in a bear hug. Carter always called me by my last name, so much so that people thought it was my first name. "How lovely it is to see you here." He said, releasing me and wrapping his arm over my shoulders. Carter was much taller than me, the top of my head reaching his chin. Carter often used my head as his own personal headrest, much to my annoyance.
"Hey, want to help me hand out these invitations?" I asked, looking at the names written in bold cursive on the sparkled invitations. "Ah, look, here's yours." I pulled Carter's from the stack and held it out to him. Carter grabbed it and gushed, "Oh my god, I can't believe i was invited to the popular girls club." His whiny, girl imitation caused me to cringe. "Please never do that again." I laughed.
Carter grabbed the stack from my hands, and removed his arm from my shoulder. "Most of these people are over where I was." He explained, looking at the names. "Before you so rudely interrupted." He smirked, looking down to me. "Pssh, you almost pissed your pants with excitement when you saw me." I nudged him in the side with my elbow, laughing along with him.
We arrived back at the group, Carter easily walking around conversing and handing out the invitations. I stood near the edge of the group, talking with a girl in my physics class. Carter soon waltzed back over to where we were standing, winking at the girl standing beside me. I rolled my eyes at him as the girl beside me blushed brightly and scurried off to her friends.
"You're such a player." I laughed at him. Carter was quite attractive, tall and well-muscled. He had deep blonde hair and startlingly bright emerald eyes. He wasn't a player though, he was actually very kind and considerate. Carter hardly ever dated, but he definitely had his moments of being a player. I had once fallen to his charm, back in middle school. But I never wanted to make it awkward between us, and never acted upon it. We were too close of friends to date.
A loud male voice boomed behind us, and I turned and saw Carter's brother, Marcus. "What's up?" Carter asked, clapping hands with Marcus. Carter and Marcus were very close, ever since Marcus left for college. "Hey, Del." He said, wrapping me in a friendly hug. "Hello, Marcus." I replied, hugging him back and smiling at him. "You keeping my brother in line?" He asked, pulling away and thumping Carter on the forehead. "Oh, definitely." I smirked, crossing my arms.
Alexa and Megan met up with us, Megan blushing furiously when she saw Marcus. Megan had the biggest crush on Marcus for a long time, ever since freshman year when Marcus was a senior. Alexa had warned her off, saying Megan and Marcus were too similar of names and that wouldn't look good on a wedding invitation. I told Megan that Alexa was ridiculous.
We all spent the rest of the game together, laughing and hanging out.
