I nudged my brother on the shoulder trying to get his attention he was off in space staring into the backyard "Dude are you okay?" I asked him, he was distant often I tried distracting him to keep his mind off Dad, it was hard for me to but I wasn't as close to Dad as he was.

Jay shook his head snapping out of whatever trance he was in "Yeah I am fine, crazy" he laughed "You guys decide what were watching?" he asked acting as if he was fine. I let out a deep breath deciding to give him space till he wants to talk.

"Yeah we did.." I said looking back towards Jade giving her a wink, that was our code for I'm up to something go along with it. I looked back to my brother "but I don't know what you like want to help us?" I asked Jay looking back at Jade as she nodded her head.

"We picked out a few kind of a scary ones though" Jade looked at him "One is one of my favorites" a grin stretched across her face I nudged her arm laughing judging her taste in movies "it's called The Grudge, but theirs also hostel or one of the saws.." her eyes lit up "Have you seen it Jay? The Grudge?" she asked batting her eye lashes at my brother ick! I know she has always thought he was cute from pictures but geez I don't want to see it.

"The Grudge? No don't think I've seen it." he spoke back smiling at her. I'm going to puke if this goes on much longer! "But I would like to, looks interesting." he said as he flipped the DVD case from one side to another "Perfect, scary can be good." he smirked.

Jade and I seen The Grudge when she bought it last week, the movie is creepy and that's what she likes about it. As my phone vibrated in my pocket I remembered what I forgot to ask "Jade, can Sean come over and watch the movie to? He's right down the street at his aunts house." it was kind of cool having my best friend live so close to my boyfriends aunts house my mom is very picky about who can come over so I never bother to ask.

"I don't care I'll just text my dad and let him know." she smiled. Soon enough there's a knock at the door "Hey Sean." Jade spoke opening the door, he walked in wrapped me up in his arms hugging me close "get a room." Jade joked laughing. The four of us walked through the living room and up the stairs into Jades room closing the door behind us, jade put in the DVD closing her blinds making it pitch black in her room.

Sean and I sat at the end of the bed he leaned back against the wall holding me, Jade sat next to us in the middle while my brother sat in the farthest corner, a chill ran up my spine boy it's been freezing this afternoon "Man, aren't you guys cold?" I asked shivering grabbing Jades quilt tossing it over the four of us. After a minute the movie began I started feeling warm and cozy.

"Leave me alone!!" I heard a little girl screaming from the girls bathroom it was the first day of fourth grade. She sounded furious, almost as if she were even in tears. I was curious what was going on, I walked passed the bathroom seeing a couple of third graders laughing and pointing.

I walked in seeing a little girl with her knees clenched against her chest crying her eyes out screaming at the older girls to leave as they laughed "Can't you guys see she's upset!? leave her alone! have you no self discipline" I gritted my teeth as a look of disgust washed over my face "I'd be ashamed if you were my children" I yelled furious at the ignorant third graders as she ran into a stall slamming it shut locking it "Get out of here before I tell a teacher!" they all stared at me in shock of my words thinking no one one would catch them in the act.

As the other girls walked off down the hallway I heard faint sniffling from a stall I walked up tapping on the metal frame "Their gone now" I spoke trying to comfort her "They won't be bothering you the rest of today I'm sure.." she got completely silent and I started to worry "Could you come out for a sec I want to meet you." I explained "I promise I'm not like those other girls."

"How do I know?" the little girl asked me, sliding the bathroom stall latch, partly opening the stall to look at me. She had amazing big blue eyes and rosey red cheeks, but her eyes were puffy and red with a horrible expression on her face, looked like she had been crying for hours.

I smiled at her "I told them off didn't I?" I asked, holding out my hand "I'm Zoey" I said as she opened up the stall grabbing my hand sniffling, when she did I noticed on she held a name tag ripped in half that said 'JA' on one side and 'DE' on the other. "Jade.. Hmm, are you Jade?" I asked "You must be new seeing how you have that name tag, I'm sorry those girls were mean to you."

"It's not your fault, please don't apologize.." her voice was cracked "If it weren't for you those girls would still be in here making fun of me for crying.." she started staring at the floor "Thank you Zoey."

I smiled at her "No problem." I wondered what was wrong with her, she did seem real sad. "Want to come and eat lunch with me?" I asked hoping she would come so we could talk and she shook her head no telling me she had no appetite okay something's wrong "What about a chocolate milk? Or we could walk." I suggested, she still shook her head. I let out a deep breath "Can I ask you something Jade?" she looked up at me agreeing "What's wrong?" I asked.

"My mom.. " her eyes started watering "A few days ago.. There was an accident, she.." she gulped closing her eyes tight as a tear fell from her cheek "she was just cooking.." she began to sob "and it killed her, she's dead my moms dead!!" she shouted at me.

I grab ahold of her not caring if she pushed me away and hugged her as tight as I could letting her cry it out as hard as she could I felt her shaking in my arms, this was horrible. What if I lost my mom? I would be devastated! I felt my throat begin to burn as my eyes teared up.

I got up and grabbed her hand "Come with me, we're going to my house" I told her pulling her down the hall. At least at my house we can make projects and I could cheer her up "We will bake some chocolate chip cookies!" I said excitingly as Jade smiled, baking can always makes someone's day.

My feet felt numb I had been in this position way to long, I must have dozed off for a while. I look up at the tv seeing credits from the movie, dang I missed the whole movie! Sean was faintly snoring behind me sound asleep, but I heard another snore looking to my left I seen Jade leaning against my brother his arm wrapped around her both completely passed out. Though the thought of them tempting to date completely grossed me out, they were cute together I could give them that much.
