Dean made his way outside, grabbing his phone from the counter and slamming the motel door shut. With the cold fall breeze running against his face, he quickly dialed the number.

*ring, ring*

"Hey, you've reached y/n. Leave your problem at the tone," the phone says.
Your voice wasn't coarse like the last time he heard it; it was refined, elegant. Somewhat...happy. Then again, it was prerecorded long ago.

"Hey," he pauses.

/Hello.../

"It's me."

/...I was wondering if after all these years you'd like to meet.../

"I just...wanted to know if you need backup." Clearing his throat he continues," ugh, vamps headed your way."
Dean would never say it out loud, but he was concerned. Concerned for you.

/...to go over everything.../

"Let me know. Bye, y/n."

/They say times supposed to heal but I ain't done much healing.../

Another missed call. It's been at least a month since they've heard your voice. Well, other than the voicemail, of course. Like Cinderella, you ran again, this time during the night before the trio could change your mind.
Staring into a paper cup of coffee, you sigh. It'd been forever since you say them. Thoughts of going back quickly escape your head as you remember why you left.
It was simply better this way.

~ *ring, ring* ~

"Hey, you've reached y/n. Leave your problem at the tone."

"Hello, y/n? It's Sam."

/Hello from the other side.../

He clears his throat, "it's been a long time, are you okay? Cas is torn up about the whole situation. He doesn't know what to do."

/I must've called a thousand times to tell you I'm sorry, for everything that I've done.../

"Please. Let us know you're okay. Let's work through whatever happened."

~ end call ~

No one was too sure why you left. They just woke up and you were gone. With no one knowing where you'd been the night before, they had no clue why you felt the need to run. Hah, if they only knew.

Listening to the last voicemail, you almost feel sorry for them. Sorry that Sam was stuck with the stress, the constant worrying weight of the group. But you could never go back.

"Y/n..." Dean's voice is different: deeper, more concerned.

/Hello from the outside.../
