The Promise

...Robbie jumped up to hear a noise "So your my kid huh." Said a voice coming from they darkest part of the room. "Dad?" Robbie asked with tears swelling up in his eyes "Are you crying? Boys don't cry!." He said, Robbie looked confused "Mom told me about you. About the stuff you did." He told him, JD looked at him and laughed "Well did she tell you that she shot someone?" He asked, Robbie's eyes swelled up with tears again "No..." He said in denial, he had never been more confused in his life "If I knew your mother was pregnant maybe I wouldn't have killed myself." He said, he walked over to his son and sat down next to him, "She didn't even know. I'm a mistake." Said Robbie, his father slapped him "Shut up!" He said "You kept your mother alive when I died. You are definitely not  a mistake. I was I couldn't even keep my mother alive. She killed herself in a horrible way." JD finished saying, "I don't want you to do the same things I did. But if you do be smart about it." He said with a smirk, Robbie looked at his ghostly father in disbelief, "Did you really love mom?" He asked, his father nodded his head "I did, I loved my mother too but she didn't love me, nobody loved me back." He said, "Mom loved you, she still does. She told me that she died with you." He told his father, "Yeah she loved me so much she watched me die." He said, Robbie looked at his father "I bet if I raised you right now mom would be happy to see you." He told him, "Then do it." His father said, "Go to the highschool and right in front of the steps raise me." His father told him, he looked at him "I will! I promise I will I will find out how and I will get you back dad." He told him, "You promise?" His father asked, "I promise." He replied, "I'll be ready" his father told him as he walked away. He fell onto the bed and closed his eyes. At 5:00 in the morning he woke up sweating "Dad?" He whispered, Maddie woke up and looked at him, she put her hand on his shoulder, "Hey." She said to him in a quiet and comforting voice, he looked at her and put his head on her shoulder "I had a dream about my dad." He told her, she looked at him "Oh," she started saying, "It wasn't a dream." She said, "I saw you and a guy that looked like you talking." She told him, he looked at her like she was crazy, "I promised him something..." He told her expecting her not to know "I know stores we can go to to get stuff to raise the dead. I know how to make him not be a zombie." She told him, "Get dressed and we can go." She told him as she got up and walked to her closet, she picked out a leather dress and fishnet stockings and a black crop top with long sleeves. Robbie pulled on his blue jeans and slipped on his boots and tee shirt, they walked out into the living room and he put on his jacket and she put on her heels and she picked up her keys to the house and he picked up his car keys. They walked out of the house and locked the door, they got into the car and he started it. "So..." He started saying "How do you know how to raise people from the grave?" He asked her, she looked at him for a second "I do my research..." She said, Robbie was suspicious "Were you planning on raising my dad before?" Asked with a tone of anger in his voice, she looked at the window "I-i.." She started he slammed his foot on the brake, "Robbie calm down please!" She yelled as she looked at him with tears in her eyes, "Hey, we're just at a stoplight." He said as he hugged her, she was afraid of him at that moment, she knew that the topic of his father was something sensitive to him, he reached into the back of the car and got a tissue box and handed it to her, "I'm sorry..." He said "I guess I just have my fathers temper." He said as he watched her wipe away her tears, "I love you." He said trying to make her feel better "I love you too." She said smiling, "I don't know what's wrong with me," he started saying, "Every time I talk about my dad I just" was all he could say before Maddie interrupted him "I understand. I just know how you want a life with your father I just want you to be happy." She told him, he looked at her "You make me happy, and I mean I have my mom." He told her, she looked at him and smiled "Turn here." She said, he nodded, they sat quietly in the car for awhile until Maddie started flipping through radio stations until the song Boys Don't Cry by The Cure came on and she started singing it, he looked at her and smiled "What?" She asked, "Your cute." He replied, "Dork." She said, they pulled into the parking lot of a witchcraft store. They got out of the car and Robbie just looked at Maddie, "How do you know where all this stuff is?" He asked, she looked at him for a minute "I have friends that know about this stuff." She replied as she got out of the car, they walked into the store and looked around. "I think you need this." She said as she picked up a black and white jar. "Okay." He replied, "you know more than I do." He told her as he pulled her towards him and kissed her on the head. She smiled and continued looking, she picked up 2 black candles and 2 white ones. She picked out the things they needed and went to the checkout, she took out money from her purse and handed it to the woman standing at the register and the woman put their things in a bag "Blessed be." She said, Maddie said it back. "What does that mean?" Robbie asked her, she looked at him and smiled "I'm not really sure. Its sorta like good luck." She replied as they got into the car, "When we go back to your house we should look this up." He told her, "Can we go to your house?" She asked him, "Of course." He said putting his arm around her, he kissed her and started the car. They drove to his small apartment that him and his mother lived in and walked in. "Hey sweety." His mother said a they walked in, "Hey mom." He replied "Hello Mrs Sawyer." Maddie said smiling "Maddie you can call me mom." She said smiling "Okay mom." Maddie said smiling, Veronica smiled back "You kids stay out of trouble." She said "Okay mom." Robbie said as he walked over to his mother and hugged her "I love you." She said, "I love you too mom." He said as he walked away, they got into his room and locked the door. Maddie jumped onto the bed and kicked off her shoes, she reached into the bag and pulled out the candles. Robbie walked over to her and put his arms around her waist and started kissing her neck "We should really be studying this." She said, "We have a couple hours, plus were on a break from school. C'mon." He said, she put the candles and the bag down. He climbed on top of her and they started kissing, until his mother knocked on the door. He sighed "Hold on." He whispered to her, as he got up. He cracked the door open "Yeah mom?" He asked she looked at him in the eyes "Um grandpa Dean is here. He wanted to talk to you." She told him, he looked at the ground in disbelief. "Yeah I'll uh I'll be right there." He told her as he closed the door. He heard her run down the steps "My grandpa that I haven't seen since I was 12 is here." He said, she looked at him and sat up. "Your dads dad?" She asked,he looked at her and nodded his head, "yeah that's about right." He looked at the ground and laughed, "I can come with you." She said, he looked at her and nodded "okay, then lets go downstairs." He said as she got up and they walked downstairs. They walked into the kitchen, "Ey, Robbie! Been a long time huh?" His grandfather said, he looked at him, "Why are you here? I'm 16, you haven't been here since I was 12... What is so important that your here now?" He said to his grandfather, grandpa Dean looked at him in disbelief. "I don't even have a dad, and I barely know you. " he said, "Robbie Jason Dean Sawyer!" His mother yelled "Ma! The full name!" He said, "Look kid, I know I'm a deadbeat, I thought it would be easier if I just wasn't around!" His grandfather said "Easier! Do you know how hard it is to grow up without a father?!? I never got to do anything with my dad! I shouldn't even be here! I'm a mistake! I should've died not him!" He screamed, he ran upstairs Maddie followed, she knocked on his door, "Robbie, baby?" She said "Come in" he said, she walked in, he was crying. She walked over to him and held his hand. "It's okay to cry." She told him, she looked at him and kissed his cheek. "Your not a mistake. I don't know what I would have done if I never met you. I'd be lonely. I love you." She said wiping his tears. "I love you." He said as he looked at her. "Can I see your arms?" She asked, he pulled up his sleeves he only had old self harm scars, no new ones. "I'm so proud of you." She said, he looked at her and smiled. Everyone makes promises but sometimes they are hard to keep. But you have to try.
