My name is Sam, im a young poet that lives a normal life working in an office, not persuing their lifelong dream as an artistic writer. They say I'll never do it, I'll always be working in an office, behind a desk, being unartistic. But I was good at that stuff you know? Could always figure out how to work a computer, I was able to do the sums in my head, I was that kind of guy.
Today I had to report on a story about a petrol station being robbed. The usual, I suppose. Nothing shocking about that now. Its sad really. Even a death, a murder, a suicide. You'd just be like 'oh'. Just 'oh'. Nothing shocking, spectacular or wonderful. A bank was robbed, a car was crashed. 'Oh'.
'Messi scored the winning goal for the premier league, Essena O'Neill quits all social medias..' How are these the top headlines. Is there no other, more amazing beautiful spactacualr things happening in this world? It baffles me, it really does.
.. What about the amazing star shows that the night sky puts on for us, the beautiful sunsets that we should be awakening to, we spend so much time looking for beauty within oursleves, we dont realise that the is beauty all around us in ths world but none of us chose to take a good look at it and literally smell the roses. You should feel high on life. May I repeat, 'High On Life'. Stay up late under the moon, get up early and watch the sun rise, go to the beach and meet people like yourself, who you can talk to and confide in and comfort. This world is capable of so, so, so, much more if we stopped getting caught up in stupid headlines and how many selfies you instagram selfie got.
And yes, I did say stupid. I used that word that many would refuse to use. We're living our lives turning on the news at 6 o'clock in the evening and listening to how Twitter lost E3,000,000 in profit over the last one and a half years. What about the amazing work and amazing discoveries and all the other spectacular beautiful things happening now, they deserve headlines to be broadcasted around the world, to be known about in great detail. We want to know about these things, and make the world a better place by embracing them.
Also, social media is slowly but surely taking over. Social media sites that are based on how many 'likes' you get. Social media can be used for good, but many, many, many people feel they need social approval to mean something. They feel that if they dont get enough 'likes' they arent valued enough, Which is really, really sad to be honest. So many years of education yet they never teach you how to love yourself. You need to learn to love yourself. People feel that they need to prove to people, that they mean something... By posting a body pic? By posting a selfie? Now tell me honestly here... what exactly does that prove? It proves nothing. So, you got 167 likes for it. Okay, good for you, but does that really help you grow as a person? Does it make you feel better? For a short wile, maybe. Not at all maybe, but it makes that girl acoss the road envious, it makes that guy from school want to talk to you. Maybe its an over edited picture, taken at 7 pm when you havent eaten or a whole day to make your somach look flatter, or maybe you were paid to promote a product. If it doesnt make YOU happy, and I mean truly, truly happy, its not worth it. Let me tell you, its really not worth it because there is SO much more to you as a person, there are so many other things you could be doing and seeing and being other than sitting in your room, staring into a screen for 3 hours trying to get the perfect lighting or finding the perfect filters that match together on severel apps, you are wasting your life trying to prove to others, exactly what? That you have a 6-pack? What exactly? Nothing. Nothing is the answer.
There are so mant amazig spectacular things in this world such as;
- The stars
- The moon
- The trees
- Nature
- Your talents
- The sunrise
