The night was unusually dark and quiet. Even with the full moon shining down brightly, Lona could hardly see a few paw steps in front of her muzzle. She raised her head, trying to catch a scent of food. She could only smell the usual; grass, dirt, and the factory not too far ahead. But something was different: she smelt another being.

Lona lowered her head, her unusual purple eyes reflecting the moon. She did not feel like howling right then. Someone was behind her. Something was behind her. Her darkened tail swished slightly but she remained still. The bushes behind her rustled.

Lona spun around, her sharp teeth glinting in the moonlight, her eyes darkening with anger. "Who are you?" She growled. Two eyes peered at her from the bushes. But they were not animal eyes. Lona's fur rose in terror, but she stood her ground. "Come out now!" Lona snarled, her teeth bared. She knew the human could not understand her, but surely the human would tell by her voice that Lona was furious.

The human stepped from the bushes. It looked at Lona, then turned and called for someone else. Lona growled and launched herself at the human, digging her teeth into its leg. The human yelled and shook her off. Once it was free, it ran.

Lona shook out her fur, licking the foul taste of human blood from her lips. But now she felt someone else watching her. Her mind spiked. "Just come out, Pointer, i know your there!" She growled lowly, her tail raised.

"Your getting better." The voice behind her was low and deep, not the voice of her friend. Lona felt her fur rise as she turned around and saw another human.

"Who are you?" Lona growled as if he understood. The human stared at her.

"I am not here to do harm. Im Don." He told her.

Lona narrowed her eyes. This human seemed to understand her language. She stepped forward cautiously. "What do you want?" She asked him.

"I want to join your pack." Don said. He looked at her. "You have weird eyes."

"But i have sharp teeth, and ill use em." Lona snarled at him. "And we'll see what Star thinks."

Don smiled. "Alright."

Lona looked at him curiously. "Why would you want to join?" She asked.

"I want to see what wolf life is like." Don shrugged.

"But how can you understand me?" Lona asked him, beginning to relax.

"Im not sure." Don shrugged.

Lona looked at him, then turned around. Her head snapped to the sky, her ears flicking back. She closed her eyes and let out a howl.
